AEW Worlds End Results 12/28 - Continental Classic Semifinals & Finals Matches, Four-Way World Title Match

The Continental Classic will be coming to a close tonight, as the winner of the Gold League Ricochet goes head-to-head with the runner-up of the Blue League and defending Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada in a semifinals match after both accumulating 10 points over the course of the past few weeks. On the other side of the bracket, the winner of the Blue League Kyle Fletcher will be taking on his former close friend and the runner-up of the Gold League Will Ospreay after earning 12 points and 9 points respectively over the course of the last several weeks. The winners of those two matches will advance to the finals later tonight, where they will go head-to-head with the Continental Championship awaiting the victor of the match.

Jon Moxley will be putting his AEW World Championship on the line for the first time since retaining against Orange Cassidy at AEW Full Gear on November 23 as he defends against "Hangman" Adam Page, Jay White, and "Freshly Squeezed" himself in a Four-Way Match. Tensions between the four men have been running high over the course of the past several weeks, meeting each other in a series of verbal and physical confrontations with one another including the "AEW Dynamite" Holiday Bash special when Moxley and his Death Riders stablemates Wheeler Yuta and PAC emerged victorious over Page, White, and Cassidy in trios competition.

Thunder Rosa will be challenging for the AEW Women's World Championship for the first time since being able to dethrone Toni Storm at AEW Dynasty back in April as she collides with current titleholder Mariah May in a Tijuana Street Fight. Not only was Rosa at ringside when May successfully defended her title against former companion Mina Shirakawa at the "Dynamite" Winter Is Coming special reacting to the action with a series of signs, but she also watched on as May's former mentor Toni Storm made her long awaited return to AEW following the match.

Two other titles will be on the line tonight, as Mercedes Mone puts her TBS Championship on the line against longtime rival Kris Statlander after the latter was previously unsuccessful in dethroning the former as titleholder at the aforementioned Full Gear pay-per-view event. Elsewhere, Konosuke Takeshita of The Don Callis Family will be defending the AEW international Championship against Powerhouse Hobbs as they compete against each other in singles competition for the first time ever. The issues between Takeshita and Hobbs date back to the November 6 episode of "Dynamite" when Hobbs revealed himself as the tag team partner of Ricochet to defeat Takeshita and the aforementioned Fletcher.

MJF will be putting his "Dynamite" Diamond Ring on the line against former Better Than You Bay Bay tag team partner Adam Cole. The former friends turned rivals have had no shortage of issues with one another over the course of the past few weeks, with Cole defeating Kyle O'Reilly during the "Dynamite" Winter Is Coming special to earn his spot in tonight's match after they both had emerged victorious in the "Dynamite" Dozen Battle Royal the week prior.

Additionally, Leila Grey looks to redeem herself after coming up short to the aforementioned Rosa on last night's edition of "AEW Rampage" as she goes one-on-one with the aforementioned Storm on the Zero Hour Pre-Show beginning at a special start time of 6:30 PM ET. The Outrunners Truth Magnum and Turbo Floyd will also be joining forces with Dante Martin and Darius Martin to face Action Andretti, Lio Rush, Lance Archer, and Brian Cage in an Eight Man Tag Team Match, and QT Marshall will be going head-to-head with Jeff Jarrett.

We are live! Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, and Nigel McGunniess greet audiences at home as Toni Storm makes her way out to the ring. Leila Grey follows.

The bell rings and the two lock up. Storm and Grey take turns locking one another in submission holds before Storm connects with a bodyslam and a standing splash on Grey. She whips her into the corner, but Grey rolls her up. Storm kicks out, but Grey sends her crashing into the mat with a twisting neckbreaker and a dropkick. She goes for a pin, but Storm kicks out.

Grey fires off a couple of strikes on Storm in the corner, then exchanges forearms with her. Grey hits a cutter on Storm, then wears her down with a submission hold. Storm gets her foot on the bottom rope to escape, then delivers a Thesz Press to Grey and rains down right hands on her. She follows it up with a Hip Attack and a Northern Lights suplex, then goes for a pin but Grey kicks out.

Grey connects with a pump kick on Storm, then whips her into the corner and lands a Blockbuster off the middle rope. She pins Storm, but Storm kicks out. Grey then delivers a step-up knee to Storm in the corner and connects with a suplex, but Storm rolls her up for the win.

Winner: Toni Storm

QT Marshall then makes his way down to the ring. Jeff Jarrett follows.

The bell rings and Marshall mocks Jarrett. He slaps the back of Jarrett's head, then delivers a boot to his midsection and follows it up with an open palm strike. Jarrett sends Marshall crashing into the mat and delivers an arm drag, then looks to dump him out of the ring over the top rope. Marshall hangs on, but Jarrett clotheslines him out of the ring on the other side.

Marshall rocks Jarrett with a roundhouse kick, then goes for a pin but Jarrett kicks out. Jarrett then levels Marshall with a pair of clotheslines and a back body drop before raining down right hands on him in the corner and delivering an enzuigiri. Marshall ascends to the top rope, but Jarrett pulls him off and cinches in a Sharpshooter on him. Aaron Solo hops up on the apron, forcing Jarrett to release the hold. This opens the door for Marshall to rolls up Jarrett, but Jarrett kicks out and Marshall delivers The Stroke to him. Solo looks to land Marshall Jarrett's guitar, but Jay Lethal runs out at ringside and brawls to the back with him. This opens the door for Jarrett to hit The Stroke on Marshall for the win.

Winner: Jeff Jarrett

The Outrunners, Top Flight, and Leila Grey then make their way down to the ring. Action Andretti, Lio Rush, Lance Archer, Brian Cage, and Don Callis follow.

Darius Martin and Archer begin the action. The bell rings and Darius dropkicks Archer. He rains down right hands on him in the corner, then connects with a chop and sends him crashing into the corner. Cage tags in and double teams on Darius with Archer, then sends him crashing into the mat and looks to tag in Archer. Andretti tags himself in instead, then tags out to Rush. Rush and Andretti look to double team on Darius, but Darius manages to tag in Dante.

Dante fires off a couple right hands on Rush, then runs him over with a clothesline. Truth Magnum tags in and gets Rush up on her shoulders, then looks to send him crashing into the mat with an Airplane Spin. Andretti tags in and levels Magnum, then delivers a standing moonsault to him. Archer tags in and delivers an elbow to Magnum in the corner. Cage tags back in as we see Private Party watching the action from backstage.

Rush and Turbo Floyd tag in, and Floyd levels Rush with a series of clotheslines. He delivers alternating bodyslams to him and an interfering Andretti, then bodyslams Andretti on top of Rush. Floyd and Magnum deliver a double bodyslam to an interfering Archer before Top Flight hits a double superkick on Andretti. The Outrunners and Top Flight deliver double elbow drops to Archer and Andretti, but Cage turns Dante inside out with a clothesline and sets up for the Drill Claw. The Outrunners save Dante and level Cage with a double boot, but Andretti and Rush take the duo down and follow it up with a tope suicida to them on the outside.

Darius then delivers a Tornado DDT to Rush, but Archer levels him with a chokeslam. Cage then follows it up with a double powerbmb on Dante and pins him, but The outrunners break the fall and clothesline both themself and Cage out of the ring. Rush then delivers a Frog Splash off the top to Dante for the win.

Winners: Action Andretti, Lio Rush, Lance Archer, and Brian Cage

After the match, Private Party's musi hits and they appear to stare down Rush and Andretti.

The bell rings and Ospreay fires off chops on Fletcher. He looks to land a hurricanrana, but Fletcher intercepts him and delivers a chop. Fletcher and Ospreay look to land kicks on one another, but both avoid them until Fletcher rolls out of the ring for a breather.

Fletcher gets back inside the ring and lands a chop on Ospreay, but Ospreay responds with a series of chops of his own before the action spills back out of the ring and Ospreay flies off the apron to level Fletcher. Fletcher catches him with a boot, but Ospreay looks to use the ring steps as a launching pad to connect with a hurricanrana. Fletcher sees Ospreay coming and powerbombs him into the ring apron, then gets him on one shoulder and sends him crashing into one of the barricades.

Fletcher gloats in front of the crowd, then dumps Ospreay back into the ring and rains down right hands on him in the corner. He goes for a pin, but Ospreay kicks out. Fletcher mockingly kicks Ospreay, but Ospreay fires off a few right hands on him and turns Fletcher inside out with a clothesline. He follows it up with a back body drop and sends Fletcher crashing into the top turnbuckle face first, then levels him with a boot and a standing Phoenix Splash.

Ospreay hits a standing Spanish Fly on Fletcher and pins him, but Fletcher kicks out and Ospreay levels him with a chop. Fletcher responds with a chop of his own, and the two continue to exchange them. Ospreay rocks Fletcher with a superkick, then follows it up with the Os-Cutter and goes for a pin but Fletcher kicks out.

Fletcher levels Ospreay with a back elbow, and the two exchange headbutts and shoves with each other. Fletcher rolls up Ospreay, but the referee catches Fletcher with his hand on the ropes. Fletcher gets in the referee's face and shoves him, but the referee delivers a strike to Fletcher. Ospreay takes advantage and delivers a Hidden Blade to Fletcher, then pins him. Fletcher kicks out and delivers a Brainbuster to Ospreay before going for a pin of his own.

Ospreay kicks out, but Fletcher catches him with a running knee and a sit-out powerbomb. He goes for another pin, but Ospreay kicks out one again. Fletcher delivers a running kick to Ospreay's midsection, but Ospreay responds with a hurricanrana and a Styles Clash to Fletcher for the win.

Winner: Will Ospreay

Ricochet then makes his way down to the ring. Kazuchika Okada follows.

The bell rings and the two lock up. Okada levels Ricochet with a shoulder tackle, but Ricochet kips up and delivers a hurricanrana to Okada. He dropkicks him out of the ring, but Okada slides back inside and levels Ricochet with a big boot. He whips Ricochet into the corner, but Ricochet fires off knees on his spine and follows it up with a series of strikes. Okada fires off right hands on Ricochet, then follows it up with a Flapjack.

Ricochet sends Okada crashing into the corner, then sends him crashing into the mat and follows it up with a springboard moonsault. He then delivers a standing moonsault and goes for a pin, but Okada kicks out. Okada lands a shoulderbreaker on Ricochet and pins him, but Ricochet kicks out. Okada levels Ricochet with a dropkick before he delivers a bodyslam and The Rainmaker for the win.

Winner: Kazuchika Okada

After the match, Swerve Strickland's music hits and he appears on the entrance ramp. He congratulates Ricochet on making it as far in the Continental Classic as he did last year, but reminds Ricochet that he said he would win it and he told him that he would embarrass him if he failed to do so. He says Ricochet has done what he expected since he came to AEW: run his mouth. He says Ricochet talks a lot of mess while he has to clean it up, then says the best way to clean a mess is with toilet paper as Prince Nana emerges with a wagon full of it.

Nana passes out toilet paper to the crowd, and Strickland tells them that they're all going to wish Ricochet a Happy New Year. Strickland and the crowd do so while the crowd tosses their rolls of toilet paper on Ricochet.

Thunder Rosa then makes her way out to the ring. Mariah May follows.

Rosa flies off the apron and rains down right hands on May. The bell rings and Rosa connects with a chop on her. She dumps her back into the ring, then levels her with a basement clothesline and follows it up with a senton. May rains down right hands on Rosa, but Rosa responds with a dropkick to May and grabs a few chairs from under the ring along with a couple of garbage cans.

May delivers a DDT to Rosa on the entrance ramp and goes for a pin, but Rosa kicks out. May then grabs a bottle of tequila and spits it into Rosa's face, but Rosa sends May crashing through a piece of wood with a spear set up in the entrance tunnel and goes for a pin of her own. May kicks out, but Rosa grabs a garbage can and looks to use it on May. May delivers a kick to Rosa using the garbage can, but Rosa smashes something over May's head and dumps her back inside the ring.

Rosa jams her boot into May's neck, then sends her crashing into the chairs in the ring face first and uses one to target her throat. May delivers a running knee to Rosa, then cracks a chair across her spine and rocks her with a forearm. Rosa responds with a forearm of her own, and the two continue going back and forth with them. Rosa then gets May up on her shoulders and sends her crashing into the mat with an Airplane Spin Death Valley Driver.

Rosa dumps thumbtacks out of a pinata she brought to the ring with her, then looks to send May crashing on top of them. May escapes and sends Rosa crashing on top of them with May Day. She goes for a pin, but Rosa kicks out. May mocks Rosa's father in the crowd with his cane and looks to land a running knee on Rosa, but Rosa moves out of the way and May's knee is sent crashing into the ring steps. Rosa then grabs her father's cane and hits May with it, then connects with a chop on her and grabs a table from under the ring. She sets up one of the legs, then uses it as a launching pad to land a single leg dropkick on May.

Rosa dumps May back inside the ring and goes for a pin, but May kicks out. Rosa chokes May with a chain, then grabs one of the chairs and sends May's face bouncing off it. She continues to use the chain to choke May, but May escapes by tossing the Tijuana graveyard dirt brought by Rosa's father into Rosa's eye. She then delivers a piledriver to Rosa off the apron and through a table on the outside for the win.

Winner (and still): Mariah May

MJF then make their way down to the ring. The Undisputed Kingdom follows.

The bell rings and MJF slides out of the ring immediately. Cole follows him out there and rains down right hands on him, but MJF sends Cole crashing into the ring steps and the ring post face first. He dumps him back inside the ring and mocks him, then shows off with some push-ups and fires off right hands on Cole.

MJF ascends up the middle rope and flies, but Cole intercepts him with a thrust kick and follows it up with a backstabber. MJF delivers a chop block to Cole and stomps on his calf, then continues to wear down his leg and sends it bouncing off the ring post. Cole then connects with the Panama City Sunrise and The Boom on MJF, then goes for a pin but MJF kicks out.

Cole looks to land The Boom for a second time, but MJF intercepts him with a spear. Cole fires off right hands on MJF, but MJF cinches in a Figure Four Leg Lock on him. Cole reverses the hold, but MJF crawls over to the bottom rope to escape it.

MJF stares down Taven and Bennett on the outside as he gives them a sly smile, then pretends that they sent him crashing into the ring steps on the outside while the referee is looking away. The referee, thinking Taven and Bennett did such, eject them from ringside. MJF grabs his "Dynamite" Diamond Ring and looks to hit Cole with it as the referee is still distracted. Cole grabs it from him and looks to use it on MJF, but MJF low blows Cole and follows it up with a modified hanging DDT for the win.

Winner: MJF

After the match, MJF grabs a chair from the timekeeper's area and slides Cole's ankle in it. He looks to stomp on the chair, but Roderick Strong's music hits and he runs down to the ring to save Cole. Kyle O'Reilly then appears on the entrance ramp and drags MJF back into the ring. He finds himself surrounded by O'Reilly and Strong, who double team on him to take him down. O'Reilly helps Cole, and holds MJF in place with Strong for Cole to hit him with the "Dynamite" Diamond Ring. He places the "Dynamite" Diamond Ring on MJF's chest and hugs Strong and O'Reilly, with Taven and Bennett joining the trio in the ring as they celebrate.

Powerhouse Hobbs then makes his way out to the ring. Konosuke Takeshita and Don Callis follow.

The bell rings and the two trade strikes with one another. Hobbs sends Takeshita crashing into the ring apron repeatedly, but Takeshita gets Hobbs up on his shoulders and sends him crashing into the ring apron. Takeshita sends Hobbs into the ring apron face first, then sends his leg bouncing off the ring post and lands a right hand on his knee.

Takeshita sends Hobbs crashing into the mat with a vertical suplex, but Hobbs fires off right hands on him and delivers a crossbody to Takeshita. Hobbs then sends Takeshita crashing into the mat with an over the shoulder powerslam and pins him, but Takeshita kicks out. Takeshita then hits a belly-to-back piledriver on Hobbs and pins him, but Hobbs kicks out.

Takeshita and Hobbs exchange strikes with one another, but Takeshita levels Hobbs with a German suplex and sets up for a running knee. He looks to land the Takeshita Line, but Hobbs intercepts him with a scoop powerslam and a clothesline of his own. He then sends Hobbs crashing into the mat with the Blue Thunder Bomb and pins him, but Hobbs levels Takeshita and ascends up the ropes. Takeshita meets him up there and delivers a superplex. He ascends back up to the top and lands a senton on Hobbs, but Hobbs catches him with a spinebuster and goes for a pin. Takeshita kicks out.Takeshita rocks Hobbs with a jumping knee, then wears him down with a front face lock. He follows it up with a Michinoku Driver for the win.

Kris Statlander then makes her way down to the ring. Mercedes Mone follows.

The bell rings and the two lock up. Mone dropkicks Statlander, but Statlander immediately kips up and Mone looks to fly off the barricade. Statlander catches her and sends her crashing into the ring apron midsection first, then goes for a pin but Mone kicks out. Mone sends Statlander crashing into the middle turnbuckle face first and pins her, but Statlander responds with a Fallaway Slam to Mone.

Mone powerbombs Statlander off the ropes and onto the ring apron, then wears her down with a submission hold. Statlander connects with a Chaos Theory on Mone and pins her, but Mone kicks out. Mone then connects with a Tornado DDT on Statlander and goes for a pin of her own, but Statlander kicks out.

Mone delivers The Three Amigos to Statlander, but Statlander catches her with a package piledriver and goes for a pin. Mone kicks out and lands a jawbreaker on Statlander, then sends her crashing into the floor on the outside with the Mone Maker. She traps Statlander's foot in the part of the ring that attaches the canvas to the bottom, then delivers a meteora to her off the apron and rains down right hands on her. Statlander removes her boot to escape, then connects with an F5 on Mone on the ring apron and hits a second one in the ring. She goes for a pin, but Mone kicks out.

Mone sends Statlander crashing into the ring apron with a piledriver, leaving Mone inside the ring and Statlander on the floor. The referee begins a ten count, but Statander beats it just in time. Mone then cinches in the Statement Maker on her, but Statlander grabs the bottom rope to escape. Mone delivers an open palm strike to Statlander, but Statlander levels her and sets up for Saturday Night Fever. Mone transitions into an Ankle Lock, but Statlander escapes and rolls up Mone. Mone reverses into a fall of her own for the win.

Will Ospreay then makes his way down to the ring. Kazuchika Okada follows, and Jim Ross joins the commentary desk for the final two matches.

The bell rings and the two lock up. They exchange strikes with one another, but Ospreay levels Okada with a hurricanrana and flies over the top rope to level him on the outside. Okada connects with a DDT on Ospreay on the floor, then delivers a hanging DDT off the ring apron.

Ospreay fires off right hands on Okada, but Okada responds with a neckbreaker. Ospreay delivers a chop to Okada, then sends him crashing into the mat with a vertical suplex and follows it up with a springboard roundhouse kick. He lands a Phenomenal Forearm on Okada and goes for a pin, but Okada kicks out. Okada then catches Ospreay with a Flapjack and dropkicks him off the ropes and to the outside. Okada looks to land a Tombstone on Ospreay on the floor, but Ospreay escapes and connects with the Os-Cutter on Okada off of one of the barricades.

Ospreay delivers a second Os-Cutter to Okada back inside the ring and goes for a pin, but Okada kicks out. Ospreay fires off kicks on Okada's face, but Okada delivers a shoulderbreaker to Ospreay and delivers an elbow drop to him off the ropes. Ospreay delivers a standing moonsault to Okada and runs the ropes, but Okada intercepts him with a dropkick. Ospreay connects with the Styles Clash on Okada and goes for a pin, but Okada kicks out.

Okada catches Ospreay with the Rainmaker and goes for a pin, but Ospreay kicks out. Okada rocks Ospreay with a forearm, then connects with an uppercut on him. Ospreay connects with the Rainmaker on Okada, then follows it up with a twisting neckbreaker and goes for a pin. Okada kicks out and lands a couple strikes on Ospreay, but Ospreay catches him with a superkick and sets up for the Hidden Blade. Okada ducks out of the way and avoids it, then connects with The Rainmaker for the win.

Winner (and still): Kazuchika Okada

After the match, Okada offers his hand to Ospreay as a show of respect. Ospreay opts not to shake it and slides out of the ring, but Christopher Daniels appears on the entrance ramp and says while he would normally present Okada with the Continental Championship, he is no longer an EVP of AEW as someone else has stepped up to take his place.

Kenny Omega's music hits and he makes his way out. He grabs the Continental Championship, then makes his way down to the ring. He hands Okada the title, and stares him down as Okada holds it up.

"Hangman" Adam Page, Jay White, Orange Cassidy, Jon Moxley, and Marina Shafir all then make their way down to the ring.

The bell rings and White begins arguing with Page. Moxley slides out of the ring as Page shoves Cassidy, but Cassidy delivers a tope suicida to level Moxley and rains down right hands on him. White and Page join in and fire off strikes on Moxley, but Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta grab Moxley and help him retreat through the crowd. Page, White, and Cassidy then begin brawling with The Death Riders in the crowd.

Moxley dumps Cassidy back into the ringside area as Yuta and the rest of The Death Riders are dragged away from the ringside area. Moxley mocks Cassidy back in the ring by landing Cassidy's signature kicks on him, but Page and White hold Moxley in place to hit an Orange Punch on him. The trio then send Moxley crashing through one of the announce desks.

Page clocks White from behind and sends Cassidy crashing into the barricade. Page and White go back and forth with each other in the ring, but Page delivers a Fallaway Slam to Cassidy into the corner and goes for a pin. White breaks the fall as we see The Patriarchy watching the action from a box in the crowd and HOOK in a nearby box of his own. Page lands a clothesline on Cassidy in the corner back inside the ring.

Cassidy looks to land the Stun Dog Millionaire on White, but White avoids it. White then delivers a hurricanrana to Page and clotheslines him over the top rope and out of the ring, but Moxley clocks White from behind. Cassidy looks to land Beach Break on him and sets up for Orange Punch, but Moxley catches him with a cutter.

Moxley, White, and Page go back and forth with each other, but Cassidy sends Moxley crashing into the mat with a Tornado DDT. White fires off chops on Moxley and Page, then connects with a Snap Dragon suplex on Moxley. Page follows it up with a Dead Eye on Moxley, and Cassidy lands an Orange Punch on White. He lands a second one on White, then goes for a pin but Page pulls the referee out of the ring to stop the count.

Page delivers a pair of Dead Eyes to Moxley, but White catches page with the Blade Runner. He lands a second one on Moxley and pins him, but Yuta reemerges and breaks the count. Shafir sneaks behind White, but White takes her down with a Blade Runner. Yuta connects with a Busaiku Knee on White, and Moxley follows it up with the Death Rider on him. Castagnoli slides the referee back in the ring for the win.

Winner (and still): Jon Moxley

After the match, The Death Riders look to continue beating down White, but FTR's music hits and they make their way out alongside a returning Adam Copeland! FTR levels Castagnoli and hits the Shatter Machine on Castagnoli. Copeland delivers a spear on Moxley, but The Patriarchy leaves their box. Copeland locks in a crossface on Moxley using the leg of a chair, but Castagnoli saves Moxley and pulls him out of the ring. Copeland then grabs a mic and tells Moxley to look at him. He tells him that he's all his and "Rated FTR are taking it all".
