AEW Dynamite Results 10/16 - Jon Moxley And Adam Cole Appear, The Elite Take On The Conglomeration & More

Welcome to Wrestling Inc.'s results for "AEW Dynamite" on October 16, 2024, coming to you live from the SAP Center in San Jose, California!

After dethroning Bryan Danielson as AEW World Champion at AEW WrestleDream this past Saturday and subsequently ending his career, Jon Moxley will be featured on tonight's show. Moxley and his allies Claudio Castagnoli, PAC, and Marina Shafir launched a vicious attack on Danielson following his win, with Wheeler Yuta turning his back on his former mentor and Darby Allin to join their ranks when Allin looked to provide a hand to Danielson.

Jack Perry retained the TNT Championship against Katsuyori Shibata in Tacoma, Washington, but chaos occurred after the match when Daniel Garcia and MJF became involved in a post match beatdown on Shibata at the hands of Perry until Adam Cole subsequently confronted his former Better Than You BayBay partner to make his long awaited return to AEW. In light of such events, Cole will be making his return to "Dynamite" tonight.

Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler of FTR will be competing in their first match on "Dynamite" since coming up short in a Number One Contenders Tag Team Casino Gauntlet Match for the AEW World Tag Team Championship on September 11 as they go head-to-head with Bryan Keith and Big Bill. Speaking of the AEW World Tag Team Championship, coming off their successful defense against Private Party at WrestleDream, Matthew Jackson and Nicholas Jackson will be joining forces with their Elite stablemate and reigning AEW Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada to square off with The Conglomeration's Rocky Romero, Orange Cassidy, and Kyle O'Reilly.

Additionally, Lio Rush will be colliding with Shelton Benjamin as the latter competes in his inaugural match in AEW. TBS Champion Mercedes Mone will be putting her title on the line against Queen Aminata after retaining both the TBS Championship and NJPW STRONG Women's Championship against Emi Sakura last Wednesday on "Dynamite", and Jay White looks to score another win tonight following his win against "Hangman" Adam Page at WrestleDream when he goes head-to-head with Christian Cage of The Patriarchy.

We are live! The show kicks off with a video from Jon Moxley putting the AEW roster on notice as he drives around in a pick up truck with Marina Shafir, Claudio Castagnoli, PAC, and Wheeler Yuta.

Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, and Nigel McGuinness greet audiences at home as Adam Cole makes his way down to the ring.

Cole asks who's ready for storytime with Adam Cole. He tells Roderick Strong, Matt Taven, and Mike Bennett that he has to do this alone and says while he considered talking about his months long recovery process to get back to the ring from injury, he thinks people would rather hear him talk about MJF. He says he's learned that sometimes you have to fight evil with evil and while MJF would say that his betrayal of him meant that he betrayed his trust, he isn't stupid. Cole says anyone who thinks you should trust a guy like MJF is stupid, then says if he could describe MJF in one word, it'd be fake. He says MJF does what he wants when he wants, and calls him a scared, insecure little boy. He encourages fans to go on social media to trash MJF, and says while he'll pretend not to care, he'll secretly be crying in his hotel room.

Cole says there are hungry guys in the locker room who will continue making AEW the best professional wrestling in the world, then says he gets sick thinking about the young guys looking at the path MJF is on and thinking they have to follow it. He says MJF thinks he's special and the best there's ever been in AEW, but the truth is that everyone hates him. He tells MJF that he's ready to fight him right here and now.

MJF's music hits, but he doesn't appear on the ramp. Cole looks behind him to see if MJF intends to sneak up on him, but he instead appears on the jumbo tron. He says Cole left a void in him, but yet, fans still cheer him on. He says Cole will never meet him inside the ring and will die with a void of unfulfilled vengeance, then says Cole can thank him later.

Cole says MJF knows him better than anyone, and knows he means it when he says that MJF can run but can't hide. He says he will hunt down MJF and give him the beat down that he has coming.

FTR then make their way out to the ring. Bryan Keith and Big Bill follow.

Dax Harwood and Keith begin the action. The bell rings and Keith runs over Hawoord with a clothesline. He follows it up with a boot, but Harwood responds with a chop of his own and a suplex. Cash Wheeler tags in and fires off uppercuts on Keith, but Keith responds with a bodyslam to him. Bill tags in, but Wheeler catches him with an uppercut and a dropkick. Wheeler and Harwood then take turns firing off right hands on him, but Bill runs over Wheeler.

Back from the break, Wheeler connects with a back suplex on Keith. Bill tags in and looks to land a splash on Wheeler, but Wheeler avoids it and tags in Harwood. Harwood rains down right hand left hands on Bill, then connects with a short arm lariat on an interfering Keith. Wheeler levels Bill with a crossbody off the top, and sets up for the Shatter Machine on Bill. Bill escapes and clotheslines Wheeler out of the ring, then tags in Keith. Wheeler tags in, and FTR lands the Shatter Machine on Keith for the win as we see La Faccion Ingobernable watch the action from backstage.

Winners: FTR

After the match, The Outrunners join FTR in the ring to celebrate their win and shake hands with him.

Mercedes Mone and Kamille then make their way out to the ring. Queen Aminata follows. 

The bell rings and Kamille looks to trip Aminata. Mone takes advantage and clocks her from behind, then connects with an arm drag on her. Mone rolls up Aminata, but Aminata reverses the fall. Mone kicks out, and Aminata delivers a Fallaway Slam to her. Aminata runs the ropes looking to level Mone, but Kamille pulls her out of the way. Aminata then levels Kamille with a headbutt, but Mone clocks her from behind.

Back from the break, Aminata executes a jackknife pin on Mone. Mone kicks out and Aminata sends her crashing into the mat, then follows it up with a Sunset Flip and locks in a shoulder submission. Mone escapes, but Aminata connects with a suplex to her and charges at her in the corner. Mone sees her coming and delivers a meteora off the middle rope, then connects with a backstabber and transitions into the Statement Maker. Aminata taps out.

Back from the break, we head over to a video from The Elite wishing a happy birthday to Kenny Omega and showing off a cake they got for him. They then pour raw meat over it.

Back at ringside, The Conglomeration make their way out. The Elite follows.

Kazuchika Okada and Kyle O'Reilly begin the action. The bell rings and the two lock up. They exchange forearms with one another, but Nicholas Jackson tags in and locks up with O'Reilly. Orange Cassidy tags in and double teams on Nicholas with O'Reilly.

Back from the break, Okada tags in and prevents Cassidy from tagging in O'Reilly or Rocky Romero. Okada flips off Cassidy, but Cassidy manages to tag in O'Reilly. O'Reilly fires off strikes on Okada and turns Nicholas inside out with a clothesline. He sets up for a Rainmaker on O'Reilly, but O'Reilly counters into a Guillotine. Matthew Jackson provides Okada with a hand by landing an elbow drop on O'Reilly off the top. The Elite then triple team on O'Reilly and Okada lands a shoulderbreaker on O'Reilly.

The Young Bucks set up for a double superkick on O'Reilly, but Cassidy makes the blind tag in and double teams on Okada with O'Reilly. Cassidy sets up for the Orange Punch, but Wheeler Yuta appears and levels him with a kick.

Winners: N/A (double disqualification due to outside interference)

Claudio Castagnoli, PAC, Moxley, and Marina Shafir join Yuta in the ring. Castagnoli, PAC, Moxley, and Yuta continue beating down Cassidy, but Top Flight and Action Andretti run down to the ring to even the odds. Castagnoli, PAC, Moxley, and Yuta overpower them, but Dark Order runs out as The Elite watch everything unfold from the entrance ramp. Moxley gives Shafir a belt, and Shafir chokes Alex Reynolds with it using the ring post. Moxley tells anyone who works for AEW that they're under attack as Castagnoli and Yuta use the ring steps to continue wearing down Reynolds. Castagnoli, PAC, Moxley, Shafir, and Yuta as Daniel Garcia, Private Party, Christopher Daniels, and other officials run down to check on everyone at ringside.

Lio Rush and Leila Grey then make their way out to the ring. Shelton Benjamin and MVP follow. 

The bell rings and Benjamin shoves Rush. Rush cinches in a waist lock on Benjamin, but Benjamin escapes and sends Rush crashing into the corner. Benjamin connects with a shoulder tackle on Rush and follows it up with a clothesline in the corner, then catches him with a jumping knee through the ropes as Rush looks to fly through them. Benjamin then lands a suplex on Rush on the outside.

Back from the break, Rush fires off forearms on Benjamin. Benjamin whips him into the corner, but Rush catches him with a Stunner. He follows it up with a cutter and ascends to the top, then looks to fly. Benjamin sees him coming, then looks to send him crashing into the mat. Rush escapes and connects with an enzuigiri on Benjamin, then follows it up with a Tornado DDT and goes for a pin. Benjamin kicks out.

Rush looks to fly off the ropes, but Benjamin pulls him off and lands a German release suplex on Rush. He lands a right hand on the back of his neck and delivers a second German release suplex, then takes out Rush with a kick and sends him crashing into the mat. He then lands a modified powerslam off the mat for the win.

Winner: Shelton Benjamin

After the match, MVP grabs a mic and puts Swerve Strickland on notice. He tells Strickland that what happened to Rush is what's in his future, and says it's time to finish the conversation they started at WrestleDream.

Tony Schiavone introduces Don Callis, and he makes his way down to the ring alongside the newest member of The Don Callis Family Brian Cage and Lance Archer. Callis then says that he thought The Don Callis Family should hold a press conference to answer any questions that may be lingering. He declares Cage and Archer's intentions of going after tag team gold, then introduces Kyle Fletcher and Konosuke Takeshita. Both men then make their way out to the ring.

Takeshita tells anyone who wants the AEW International Championship to come and take it from him, and Fletcher then explains that everyone wants to talk about Will Ospreay rather than him and The Don Callis Family. Callis adds that The Don Callis Family has never been stronger than it is today.

Back from the break, we see Claudio Castagnoli, PAC, Jon Moxley, and Wheeler Yuta continuing to beat down Dark Order, Top Flight, and Action Andretti backstage before driving off in a pick up truck.

Back at ringside, The Bang Bang Gang makes his way out. The Patriarchy follows.

The bell rings and White stares down Cage. Cage exits the ring and regroups with Nick and Mother Wayne, then gets back in the ring and locks up with White. White sends Cage crashing into the corner, then fires off right hands on him and locks in a submission on him. Cage makes it to the bottom rope to break the hold.

Nick looks to land Cage a chair, but Robinson and Colten catch him and grab it from him. The referee sees Robinson with the chair, and assuming he's about to use it, ejects him and Colten from ringside. Colten attacks Nick from behind and drags him up the ramp and to the back as Mother Wayne follows behind.

Back from the break, Cage wears White down with a submission hold and dumps him out of the ring. He follows him out there, but White sends him crashing over the ring steps. The pair then get back in the ring and exchange right hands, but White connects with a back body drop on Cage and rains down right hands on him in the corner. White follows it up with a DDT on Cage and pins him, but Cage kicks out. Cage sends White cashing into the top rope and sends him crashing into the ring apron with a reverse DDT, then dumps him back inside and sends him crashing into the middle turnbuckle.

"Hangman" Adam Page appears at ringside and Kip Sabian appears in the crowd as White catapults Cage into the bottom rope. He follows it up with a uranage and goes for a pin, but Cage kicks out. White sets up for the Blade Runner, but Cage escapes and reverses into the Killswitch. He goes for a pin, but White kicks out. Cage then fires off back elbows on White, but White responds with a Saito suplex and an Exploder into the corner. Cage responds with a diving headbutt off the top and pins White, but White kicks out. Sabian then distracts the referee, opening the door for Page to land the Buckshot Lariat on White and Cage to pin him for the win.
