Welcome to Wrestling Inc.'s results for "AEW Dynamite" on September 11, 2024, coming to you live from the Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky!
Queen Aminata looks to secure herself a shot at the AEW Women's World Championship as she looks to defeat titleholder Mariah May when the two collide in an Eliminator Match. May and Aminata came face-to-face during the AEW All Out Zero Hour Pre-Show this past Sunday when the former interrupted the injured Skye Blue as she addressed the crowd and blindsided her with an attack until the latter came to her aid.
Matthew Jackson and Nicholas Jackson will find out who their next challengers for the AEW World Tag Team Championship are tonight, as a Tag Team Casino Gauntlet Match is slated for tonight with the winners receiving their title match at the Grand Slam special on September 25. The Young Bucks' latest defense came on the All Out main show when they successfully retained against two thirds of the reigning AEW World Trios Champions Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta.
Speaking of Castagnoli and Yuta, the pair both joined Bryan Danielson along with PAC and Jon Moxley after Danielson had successfully defended the AEW World Championship against The Young Bucks' Elite stablemate Jack Perry on Sunday, and found himself involved in a confrontation with The Patriarchy. However, both Danielson and Yuta were blindsided moments after The Patriarchy left ringside when Moxley, Castagnoli, and PAC launched an attack on Danielson and made Yuta watch as they did so. Following such, Moxley will be making an appearance on tonight's show.
We are live! The show kicks off with a video from Jon Moxley, who reflects on staring Blackpool Combat Club with Bryan Danielson and the evolution the group has undertaken since its inception. We then see Darby Allin pull up to the arena.
Excalibur and Taz then greet audiences at home as Tony Schiavone introduces The Patriarchy and they make their way down to the ring.
We Hear From The Patriarchy
Schiavone points out Christian Cage's contract for an AEW World Championship match at any time and place of his choosing, but Cage says that he's carried AEW on his back for the last year and a half. He says when Killswitch almost turned his back on him, he saw the light bulb go off in his eyes and Killswitch realized what he is and needs to be. He says Killswitch is a killer and the most complete big man in the business, then says he belongs to him.
Cage then puts Bryan Danielson and his AEW World Championship on notice, then says he will do anything and everything to dethrone him. He tells Danielson that he'll beat him down so bad that he'll wish that his wife Brie Bella was the one who had CTE before expressing his confidence in becoming the new AEW World Champion. We then see Kip Sabian leave the crowd after hearing what Cage had to say.
Jack Perry then makes his way down to the ring. Lio Rush and Action Andretti follow.
Jack Perry (c) vs. Lio Rush (w/ Action Andretti) for the TNT Championship
The bell rings and Perry fires off stomps on Rush in the corner and gloats. Rush fires off right and left hands, then lands a dropkick on him. Perry sends Rush crashing into the ring apron face first.
Back from the break, the referee kicks Andretti out from ringside as Rush rolls up Perry. Perry kicks out, and Rush delivers a pair of tope suicidas to him on the outside. He gets back in the ring with Perry and connects with a standing Spanish Fly, then goes for a pin but Perry kicks out. Perry sends Rush crashing into the middle turnbuckle with a Razor's Edge, then follows it up with a pair of Snap Dragon suplexes and a reverse hurricanrana. Perry then catches Rush with a running knee for the win.
Winner (and still): Jack Perry
We then head backstage to "Hangman" Adam Page and Renee Paquette, with the former clocking someone as he leaves and running into Top Flight, Leila Grey, Dark Order, and Jeff Jarrett. Page then clocks Jarrett.
Back at ringside, Private Party, Komander, and Alex Abrahantes make their way down to the ring as their opponents wait in the ring. Marina Shafir, Claudio Castagnoli, and PAC blindside Private Party and Komander, with Shafir putting Komander to sleep and Castagnoli dumping Kassidy out of the ring. Shafir, Castagnoli, and PAC enter the ring alongside Jon Moxley, and PAC vents his frustrations with AEW being a broken company. He says he's been lost for a long time, but now he has purpose thanks to Moxley.
Back from the break, we see Chris Jericho, Bryan Keith, and Big Bill pull up to the Rupp Arena as Jericho sports his $7,000 jacket ruined by Orange Cassidy pouring orange juice on it seven years ago. He holds up Cassidy's backpack and says he's keeping it as collateral until he gets his money back.
Back at ringside, Ricochet makes his way down to the ring. Sammy Guevara follows.
Ricochet vs. Sammy Guevara
The bell rings and Ricochet trips Guevara. The two take turns rolling each other up and look to level each other with kicks, but see the other coming and opt against it. Winner: Ricochet
After the match, The Beast Mortos blindsides Ricochet. Guevara slides into the ring with a chair in hand to even the odds, and Mortos retreats.
Back from the break, we head backstage and see Renee Paquette chatting with Kazuchika Okada. Don Callis interrupts them and points out that Okada didn't actually pin Takeshita.
Back at ringside, Darby Allin makes his way out.
Darby Allin and Jon Moxley Come Face-To-Face
Allin says someone has been looking for him and he's right there in the ring. Jon Moxley's music hits and he makes his way down alongside Marina Shafir, showing he has no weapons in hand to Allin as he does so. Moxley tells Allin he doesn't know what he thinks he saw or heard, but nothing's changed between them.
Allin cuts him off and says he takes none of what he has for granted with everything he's been through in life. He says AEW gave him everything, then says he wants to tell Moxley a story. He says his first year in wrestling, he looked for a hero but they all showed him what fakes they were. He says Moxley didn't change for anyone and for that reason, he wanted to be like him, then says to this day, Moxley still wrestles in high school gyms because he loves the wrestling business.
Allin recalls meeting Moxley for the first time in a high school gym and wrestling him for the first time, and says while he lost, he gained the confidence to feel like he belonged in the wrestling business. He says he would never do what Moxley did to Bryan Danielson and no longer wants to be like him. Moxley says Allin secured an AEW World Championship match at AEW Grand Slam in the Royal Rampage Match, but that will no longer be happening after what he did to Danielson. He demands that Allin give him his title shot, and Allin declines to give it to him. He tells Moxley to do something if he wants it so bad, and Moxley challenges him to a match at AEW Grand Slam for Allin's title shot. Allin accepts.
We then head backstage and see Christopher Daniels talking to Alex Marvez. Nigel McGunniess pulls Daniels aside and the two walk off together looking to find Tony Khan.
MAriah May then makes her way down to the ring. Queen Aminata follows.
