AEW Dynamite 250 Results 7/17 - We Hear From Mariah May, Two Championship Matches & More

Welcome to Wrestling Inc.'s results for "AEW Dynamite" 250 on July 17, 2024, coming to you live from the Simmons Bank Arena in Little Rock, Arkansas!

AEW Women's World Champion Toni Storm watched from ringside as Mariah May won the 2024 Women's Owen Hart Cup Tournament during last week's edition of "Dynamite" when she defeated Willow Nightingale in the finals. A proud Storm then walked up the ramp with May, but was blindsided by her moments later when May attacked her and left her laid out. In light of such events, May will be appearing on tonight's show with something on her mind to share.

Will Ospreay will be defending the AEW International Championship for the first time since successfully retaining it against Daniel Garcia at the "Dynamite" Beach Break special as he goes one-on-one with MJF. MJF threw out the challenge to Ospreay last week after Ospreay has some choice words for him.

Another title will be on the line tonight, as Nyla Rose challenges Mercedes Mone for the TBS Championship. Mone has had her fair share of issues with Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. over the course of the last few weeks and the two found themselves involved in a heated verbal confrontation for the second time in a row last week. Mone then declared that she would be holding an open challenge for anyone who wanted a title shot in the locker room with the exception of Baker and Rose answered the call.

AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland will be returning to action for the first time since defending his title at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door on June 30 as he collides with AEW Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada. Not only did Strickland challenge Okada to tonight's match last week, but the two will be squaring off on next week's episode of "Dynamite" when they both compete in AEW Blood & Guts.

Additionally, "TV Time With The Learning Tree Chris Jericho" will be making its return as Chris Jericho, Big Bill, and Bryan Keith host another edition of the talk show. Jericho went head-to-head with Samoa Joe in a Stampede Street Fight last week that ultimately ended with Jericho sending Joe crashing through drywall in the backstage area by employing a forklift.

We are live! Excalibur, Taz, and Tony Schiavone greet audiences at home as MJF and Will Ospreay make their way down to the ring.

The bell rings and MJF rolls out of the ring. He gets back inside and the two go back and forth. Ospreay clotheslines MJF out of the ring, then flies through the middle rope to level him on the outside. He dumps MJF back inside the ring and lands a boot on the side of his face, then connects with a back suplex. MJF sends Ospreay crashing into the middle turnbuckle and fires off stomps on him, then wears him down with an arm and shoulder submission.

MJF lands a variation of a Stunner on Ospreay, but Ospreay lands an enzuigiri on the apron and lands a forearm off the top rope, then connects with a shoulder tackle. He then flies over the top rope to level MJF and gets him back inside the ring and delivers a moonsault. He flies off the ropes and sets up for Hidden blade, but MJF rolls out of the ring. Ospreay flies to level him on the outside.

Ospreay grabs the table from the timekeeper's area and sets it up on the outside. Ospreay and MJF get back inside the ring and delivers a chop, but MJF lands a kick on him. He delivers a knee to his head and a piledriver, then goes for a pin but Ospreay kicks out.

MJF mocks Garcia by doing his signature dance, but Ospreay fires off chops on him. MJF responds with a back body drop and cinches in a Figure Four Leg Lock on him, but Ospreay reverses the hold. MJF once again reverses the hold, but Ospreay makes his way over to the bottom rope to break the hold.

MJF fires off chops on Ospreay, but Ospreay responds with a few of his own. MJF trips Ospreay, then stomps on his leg and delivers a knee to his midsection. Ospreay lands a Stunner and the Os-Cutter, then looks to pin him. MJF rolls out of the ring before he can, but Ospreay gets him onto the apron and looks to land an Os-Cutter. MJF moves out of the way.

Back from the break, MJF lands a shoulderbreaker but Ospreay flies off the ropes to take down MJF. Ospreay fires off chops on MJF and delivers an enzuigiri, then connects with a Blue Thunder Bomb and goes for a pin. MJF kicks out.

The action spills to the outside. MJF and Ospreay brawl through the crowd, then fires off right hands on MJF's chest. He rains down more right hands on MJF's head and sends it bouncing off a trash can. He stuffs MJF's head into it, then lays him on top of the table at ringside. He ascends to the top rope, but MJF rolls back into the ring. The two take turns pinning each other before Ospreay connects with a poisionrana. MJF then ascends up the top rope and delivers a Code Red. He goes for a pin, but Ospreay kicks out.

MJF lays Ospreay on top of the table on the outside and climbs up to the top. Ospreay rolls off the table, and MJF jams his arm into the barricade. He lands a right hand on him, then sends him crashing into the barricade on the opposite side of the ring and jams his thumb into his head. MJF then delivers a running knee to Ospreay, but Ospreay lands an Os-Cutter on MJF off the barricade.

The pair get back inside the ring, and Ospreay delivers a Cross-Rhodes to MJF. MJF lands a stomp on Ospreay's arm and follows it up with a Cradle DDT. He goes for a pin, but Ospreay kicks out. Ospreay then looks to fly off the top, but MJF trips him. The pair then begin to brawl on the apron, and Ospreay connects with a Styles Clash on MJF. Ospreay then delivers a powerbomb to MJF.

Back from another break, Ospreay connects with a kick to MJF's head and sets up for an Os-Cutter. MJF intercepts him and sends him crashing into the mat, then goes for a pin but Ospreay kicks out. MJF chokes Ospreay with his necklace, then whips him into the corner and shows off his bicep. Ospreay fires off chops on MJF, then sends him crashing to the outside.

Ospreay clocks MJF from behind by flying through the ropes, then dumps him back in the ring and ascends to the top. He delivers the Hidden Blade off the top and goes for a pin, but MJF kicks out.

Ospreay ascends back up to the top, but MJF trips him. Ospreay then delivers a Styles Clash to MJF off the middle rope and pins him, but MJF gets his hand on the bottom rope to break the fall. MJF then lays Ospreay on top of the table on the outside and ascends up it before he delivers an elbow drop to him through the table.

Back from another break, MJF has a submission locked in on Ospreay with his arm on the top rope. The referee catches MJF and kicks it out. The two then take turns pinning one another, and MJF teases landing the Kangaroo Kick. Ospreay catapults him into the corner, but MJF lands on the middle rope. Ospreay then delivers a hurricanrana to him, but Ospreay lands on his feet. Ospreay then returns the favor, and the two exchange strikes. Ospreay lands an enzuigiri on MJF, and the two take turns pinning one another once again.

Ospreay delivers a Spanish Fly to MJF and sits him on the top turnbuckle. He joins him up there, but Ospreay sends him crashing into the mat with a cutter. He follows it up with a Hidden Blade and goes for a pin, but MJF kicks out. Ospreay then looks to land a second Hidden Blade, but MJF avoids it.

Ospreay delivers a headbutt to MJF, then looks to land a Styles Clash. MJF prevents him from doing so, then sends Ospreay crashing into the referee. MJF then clocks Ospreay with the "Dynamite" Diamond Ring and pins him for the win just as the time limit on the match looks to expire.

Winner (and new): MJF

After the match, medical officials check on both MJF and Ospreay.

We then head backstage to The Acclaimed and Mark Briscoe, where Anthony Bowens and Max Caster offer to be members three and four of Team AEW in Blood & Guts. Briscoe agrees, but tells them that he's not the only one to decide. Swerve Strickland and Prince Nana then enter, and Strickland backs Briscoe up in letting The Acclaimed be part of Team AEW.

Back from the break, Big Bill is waiting inside the ring.

Bill introduces Jericho, and he makes his way down to the ring alongside Keith.

Jericho tells Little Rock that they need to take a few lessons from him due to the high crime rate there, then says since it's the 250th episode of "Dynamite". He says he's been on almost every edition of the show since the beginning, and vows to never miss another episode. He says he keeps telling people to listen to him, and cites his, Bill's, and Keith's attacks on HOOK and Samoan Joe as what happens when you don't. He says people get hurt when he doesn't, and says fans must realize that they need to listen to him and his teachings. He questions who would be crazy enough to not listen to him.

Minoru Suzuki's music hits, and he makes his way out with a piece of paper in hand. He stares down Jericho, then grabs the mic from him. He holds up the paper and says "next week". Keith then grabs the paper and opens it to reveal that Suzuki will be challenging Jericho for the FTW Championship, with Bill and Keith banned from ringside. As the trio take in the announcement, Suzuki lands a headbutt on Jericho and tells fans "Hi, guys!"

Back from the break, Mercedes Mone makes her way down to the ring. Nyla Rose follows.

The bell rings and the two lock up. Mone cinches in a Waist Lock on Rose, but Rose tosses her across the ring to escape it. Mone then fires off stomps on Rose in the corner, but Rose gets her in a delayed vertical suplex position. Mone escapes and looks to land a Tornado DDT, but Rose blocks it and drapes Mone across the top rope. She ascends up it and delivers a knee to the back of Mone's neck. She goes for a pin, but Mone kicks out.

Back from the break, Mone wears down Rose with a sleeper. Rose powers up to her feet and delivers a suplex to Mone, then connects with a splash to her in the corner and follows it up with a cannonball. She goes for a pin, but Mone kicks out. Rose then ascends to the middle rope, but Mone trips her and delivers a Vader Bomb to her. She connects with a running knee on Rose, then ascends to the middle rope and delivers a meteora. She goes for a pin, but Rose kicks out.

Mone and Rose teeter on the top rope before Mone delivers a bulldog to Rose and puts on a personalized glove (similar to the manner in which Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. does). She locks in the Statement Maker, and Rose taps out.

Winner (and still): Mercedes Mone

After the match, Mone rips up a sign from a masked fan. The fan takes their mask off to reveal themselves to be Baker, and officials show up to keep the two women apart.

Back from the break, Mariah May makes her way down to the ring coming out to Toni Storm's music and decked out in clothes, hair, and make-up resembling hers.

May says in all honesty, everyone foresaw her turning on Toni Storm except Storm herself. She says Storm was so desperate for the spotlight that she didn't realize she was giving it all away, then says the question shouldn't be about why it turned but rather what took so long for her to turn. She says it was to easy to trick Storm, and says she had fun doing it. She says she wanted to see how far she could string Storm along until she saw AEW All In at Wembley Stadium.

May says she's been Storm, but she can be so much more. She says she still loves Storm, and says she's never loved her more than when she was bleeding, crying, and screaming her name last week. May says that was Storm's greatest performance, and her greatest performance will be at All In. She says All Elite Wrestling is now All About Mariah.

Back from the break, Kazuchika Okada makes his way down to the ring. Swerve Strickland and Prince Nana follow.

The bell rings and the two lock up. Strickland delivers an arm drag to Okada, then lands a hurricanrana on him and ascends to the middle rope. Strickland lands a back elbow on the back of Okada's neck, and the two go back and forth landing forearms on one another. Okada lands a flapjack on Strickland, then lands a boot on his midsection and connects with a DDT.

Back from the break, Strickland fires off a couple forearms on Okada and connects with a headbutt. Okada whips Strickland into the corner, then dropkicks him over the top rope. Strickland gets Okada on his shoulders on the apron, but Okada escapes. Strickland delivers a jawbreaker to him off the top rope and lands a flatliner, then follows it up with a vertical suplex. Okada connects with a bodyslam on Strickland, then ascends to the top and delivers an elbow drop.

Okada lands a dropkick on Strickland, but Strickland responds with a backbreaker and a powerslam. He ascends to the top and looks to land the Swerve Stomp, but Okada sees him coming and delivers a Tombstone. Matthew and Nicholas Jackson then blindside Strickland in the ring, causing the disqualification.

Winner: Swerve Strickland (disqualification due to interference)

After the match, The Acclaimed run down to the ring to even the odds. Jack Perry and Mark Briscoe down to the ring as everyone else continues brawling. Mark flies to level The Bucks and The Acclaimed on the outside, but Perry catches him with a DDT back inside the ring. Strickland lands a House Call on Perry, but "Hangman" Adam Page's music hits and he marches down to the ring. The Elite and Page overpower Strickland, The Acclaimed, and Mark, but Darby Allin's music hits. He makes his way down to the ring from the rafters on a wire, opening the door for Team AEW to overpower The Elite. The two teams continue to brawl, and officials try to separate the ten men as the show goes off the air.
