AEW Dynamite Results 7/10 - Finals Of The Men's & Women's Owen Hart Cup Tournaments, Stampede Street Fight

Welcome to Wrestling Inc.'s results for "AEW Dynamite" on July 10, 2024, coming to you live from the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta, Canada!

The 2024 Men's and Women's Owen Hart Cup Tournament winners will be determined tonight, as Adam Page faces Bryan Danielson of Blackpool Combat Club (with Jeff Jarrett serving as special guest enforcer) while Mariah May goes one-on-one with Willow Nightingale in a pair of finals matches. The finals of last year's Men's and Women's Owen Hart Cup Tournament took place in Calgary held in the same building as tonight's show, with Ricky Starks and Nightingale being the ones to emerge as the winners.

Chris Jericho will be returning to action for the first time since AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door as he goes head-to-head with Samoa Joe in a Stampede Street Fight. During the June 30 pay-per-view event, Joe and his allies Katsuyori Shibata and HOOK defeated Jericho, Big Bill, and Jeff Cobb in a Trios Mach after HOOK landed Jericho's own finisher, The Judas Effect, on him. Enraged by this, Jericho went to AEW EVPs Matthew Jackson and Nicholas Jackson last week during the "Dynamite" Beach Break special to have HOOK's father Taz removed from the commentary desk.

Speaking of Forbidden Door, Mercedes Mone emerged from Elmont, New York as both TBS Champion and New Japan Pro-Wrestling STRONG Women's Champion. However, her spotlight was overshadowed by the return of Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D.. Seeking retribution on Baker, she crashed her return to "Dynamite" last week in order to confront her and celebrate being a double champion. Tonight, Mone looks to keep the festivities going as she hosts a victory toast.

While Will Ospreay may have been unable to dethrone Swerve Strickland as AEW World Champion at Forbidden Door, he successfully retained his AEW International Championship against Daniel Garcia last week in the main event of the show as his rival MJF cheered Garcia on from ringside. However, following Garcia's loss, MJF betrayed him and blindsided him with an attack until Ospreay came to Garcia's aid. In light of such, Ospreay has something on his mind to share. Strickland himself will also be returning to AEW programming tonight for the first time since June 30.

Additionally, Tomohiro Ishii will be competing in the ring on "Dynamite" for the first time since the June 28, 2023 edition of the show as he squares off with Blackpool Combat Club's Claudio Castagnoli, PAC, and Kyle Fletcher of The Don Callis Family in a Global Glory Four-Way Match.

We are live! The show kicks off with a video showing MJF's betrayal of Daniel Garcia last week.

Excalibur, Nigel McGuinness, and Tony Schiavone then greet audiences at home as Will Ospreay makes his way down to the ring.

Ospreay says he was appalled, disgusted, and not surprised that MJF betrayed Daniel Garcia at the end of last week's episode of "Dynamite". He says he's heard rumors of MJF's insecurity, and says there's no indication of Garcia's return to pro wrestling after his actions.

Ospreay condemns MJF for what he did, and says in the few interactions they've had, he can tell MJF doesn't like him for a few reasons: the fact that Tony Khan spent his money on signing him instead of the bidding war of 2024, thinking that he's talentless, and being a reminder to fans of what AEW should be. He says that despite MJF getting a tattoo for AEW saying "bet on yourself", it should've said "AEW: all about me". He calls MJF a scumbag, then says the level of the devil is ground floor while he's at the top of the skyscraper. Ospreay says that instead of being England grieving his grandmother, he's in Calgary. He then calls MJF to the ring.

MJF's music hits, but he's nowhere to be found. He instead appears on the jumbo screen with a glass of wine in hand, and says the people of Calgary don't deserve to be in the presence of his greatness. He says that he's beaten all the fan favorites of AEW, then calls Ospreay a joke. He says that fans will come to realize that they've seen his routine and grow tired of it. He says that fans will throw him away like they did to him, then says he's seen many like Ospreay come and go. He says that he's a once in a generation wrestler, then says while Ospreay may want to face him tonight, he won't. MJF then challenges Ospreay to an International Championship match next week. Ospreay accepts his challenge.

Bryan Danielson then makes his way down to the ring. "Hangman" Adam Page follows, and Jeff Jarrett is waiting at ringside.

The bell rings and the two lock up. Page rains down right hands on Danielson, then connects with a couple of chops. Danielson locks in a Half Boston Crab on Page, but Page quickly makes it over to the bottom rope to break the hold. Danielson delivers a tope suicida to Page on the outside, then gets him back in the ring and ascends to the top. He delivers a missile dropkick, then kips up. Page clotheslines Danielson from behind, then sends him crashing into the ring post.

Back from the break, Page lands a right hand on Danielson. Danielson connects with a kick on Page's head, but Page lands another right hand on him. Danielson fires off more kicks on Page, but Page lands a series of his own. Page delivers a series of chops to Danielson's chest, but Danielson cinches in a cross arm bar. He transitions into a crossface, but Page makes her foot on the bottom rope to break the hold.

Page lands a suplex on Danielson, but Danielson lands an avalanche German suplex off the middle rope. He looks to land a diving headbutt off the middle rope on Page, but Page moves out of the way and locks in a crossface of his own. Danielson makes his way over to the bottom rope to break the hold.

Back from another break, Danielson rains down Hammer and Anvil Elbows on Page. Page sends Danielson's head bouncing off the top turnbuckle, then follows it up with a Tombstone and goes for a pin. Danielson kicks out, and Page sends Danielson tumbling out of the ring. He ascends to the top, but Danielson pushes him off. Danielson then flies off the top to take down Page on the outside, then hits the Yes Kicks on Page. Page responds with a piledriver, and Jarrett checks on Danielson along with medical officials.

Page gets in Jarrett's face and shoves him, then gets back inside the ring as the referee begins a ten count. Danielson beats it, and Page fires off right hands on him back inside the ring. He rips off Danielson's KT Tape on his trapezius, but Danielson connects with the Busaiku Knee on Page. Danielson lands a roundhouse kick on Danielson, but Danielson lands a suplex on him. He looks to land the Busaiku Knee on Page, but Page moves out of the way and Danielson is sent crashing into the referee.

Page removes his belt and starts lashing Danielson with it. He chokes him with it as Jarrett slides into the ring. Page pushes Jarrett over, and Jarrett removes his shirt to reveal a referee shirt. Danielson then rolls up, but Page kicks out. Page connects with the Dead Eye on Danielson and pins him, but Danielson kicks out. Page then lands a Buckshot Lariat on Danielson and looks to land a second one, but Danielson intercepts him and rolls him up. Page kicks out and locks in a crossface on Danielson, but Danielson transitions into a pinfall for the win.

Winner (and Winner of the 2024 Men's Owen Hart Cup Tournament): Bryan Danielson

After the match, Martha Hart joins Jarrett, and they present Danielson with the Owen Hart Cup and the Owen Hart Cup Tournament Championship. Danielson's opponent for AEW All In and the reigning AEW World Champion, Swerve Strickland and Prince Nana, then make their way down to the ring.

Strickland says he was staring across from Will Ospreay a week ago, and recalls Ospreay telling him that the best wrestler in the world is the one holding the AEW World Championship. He says now that he's defeated Ospreay, fans are looking at the best wrestler in the world. He congratulates Bryan Danielson on winning the Owen Hart Cup Tournament, then says he's looking forward to main eventing All In with him. He says he hasn't forgotten that Danielson has pinned him and says he holds grudges.

Strickland then addresses The Young Bucks. He says they tried recruiting him to Team Elite in the upcoming AEW Blood & Guts match, and while he will be competing in the match, it will be on Team AEW. He declares himself as the leader of Team AEW, and says he will lead them to victory in Blood & Guts. He then challenges Kazuchika Okada to a match, and tells Danielson he'll see him in his final countdown at All In.

Back from the break, we head over to the premiere of The Acclaimed and "Daddy Ass" Billy Gunn's newest diss track about The Elite.

Samoa Joe then makes his way down to the ring. Chris Jericho and Bryan Keith follow.

The bell rings and the two stare one another down. Joe takes off Jericho's cowboy hat and uses it to land a right hand on Jericho, then fires off more right hands on him in the corner and connects with a pair of headbutts. Joe then whips Jericho into the opposite corner and hits an enzuigiri, then fires off another right hand and headbutt on Jericho. Jericho lands a right hand on his own on Joe, then delivers a few chops to him.

Joe connects with a tope suicida to level Keith on the outside, then dumps him over the barricade and into the crowd. Jericho surprises Joe, then sends him crashing into the barricade and grabs a chair. He hits Joe with the chair on the shoulder and parades it around, then takes another shot at Joe with it and dumps Joe back inside the ring. Jericho grabs another chair from under the ring and a bag, then dumps the bag out to reveal several horseshoes.

Jericho looks to send Joe crashing through the pile of horseshoes, but Joe blocks him. Jericho lands a boot on Joe's midsection and runs the ropes, but Joe intercepts him and sends Jericho crashing through the horseshoes spine first. He follows it up with a senton and pins Jericho, but Jericho kicks out. Joe lands a few kicks on Jericho's thigh, but Jericho catches one of them and trips Joe. He locks in the Walls of Jericho on Joe.

Back from the break, Jericho still has the Walls of Jericho locked in on Joe. Joe escapes and fires off right hands on Jericho, then sits him on the top rope. Jericho lands a dropkick on Joe off the top and looks to fly off the apron, but Joe moves out of the way and dumps Jericho over the barricade. Joe follows him, and the two brawl with one another in the crowd.

Joe throws a bag of popcorn at Jericho, then drags him backstage and lands a chop on him. Jericho tosses a cup of coffee at Joe, but Joe locks in the Coquina Clutch on him. Big Bill comes out of a room nearby and cracks a chair across Joe's spine to break the hold. Keith joins him, and the two continue beating Joe down. They hold Joe in place as Jericho hits Joe with a cowbell. Keith and Bill place Joe on a pallet on a forklift, and Jericho gets on the forklift. He then drives Joe and the forklift through part of the drywall in the Saddledome, and the doctor calls for the match to be stopped.

Winner: Chris Jericho (via doctor's stoppage)

Back from the break, we see Joe being loaded onto an ambulance as Jericho, Bill, and Keith happily wave him off to the hospital.

Back at ringside, Tomohiro Ishii, Claudio Castagnoli, PAC, and Kyle Fletcher are waiting inside.

The bell rings and Fletcher fires off right hands on Ishii. Ishii stays on his feet and runs over Fletcher with a shoulder tackle as Castagnoli lands an uppercut on PAC in the corner. Castagnoli and Ishii then begin brawling, but Fletcher blindsides Ishii. Ishii and Castagnoli land a double shoulder on Fletcher and clothesline him out of the ring before they exchange forearms.

PAC ascends to the top and delivers a missile dropkick to Ishii He runs the ropes looking to level him on the outside, but Fletcher trips him. PAC takes down Fletcher with a hurricanrana, but Ishii levels Fletcher and PAC with back suplexes. He looks to land one on Castagnoli, but Castagnoli blocks him and lands a T-Bone suplex. He then flies with a Tornillo over the top rope to level him on the outside.

Back from the break, all four men are down on the mat. PAC, Castagnoli, and Fletcher fire off forearms on Ishii, but Ishii responds with forearms of his own on the three of them. He sends Fletcher crashing into the mat, then lands a clothesline on PAC in the corner. PAC rocks Fletcher with a poisionrana, but Castagnoli catches him with a pop-up uppercut. Ishii runs him over, but Fletcher catches him with a Tombstone and goes for a pin. Ishii kicks out.

Castagnoli delivers The Swing to Fletcher, then locks in a Sharpshooter on him. PAC ascends to the top and lands an elbow drop on Fletcher, then locks in the Brutalizer on him. Ishii fires off right hands on Castagnoli and levels him with a suplex, then breaks up the Brutalizer. He turns Fletcher inside out with a clothesline and pins him, but Fletcher kicks out.

Castagnoli lands the Neutralizer on Fletcher and pins him, but PAC pulls Castagnoli off Fletcher and pins him himself.

Castagnoli pulls PAC off Fletcher, and the two begin to brawl. Ishii takes down Castagnoli, but PAC lands a German suplex on Ishii and hits one on Castagnoli. Fletcher rolls up PAC, but PAC kicks out and ascends to the top. He delivers the Black Arrow to Fletcher and locks in the Brutalizer on him. Fletcher taps out.

Winner: PAC

After the match, PAC grabs a mic. He says he's made bold promises since returning to AEW, but he's also suffered many failures. He says it's All In season, and he will not be denied his moment at Wembley Stadium. He vows to be back.

We then head backstage, where "Hangman" Adam Page storms past Renee Paquette. Paquette stops him looking to get a little respect, but Page ignores her. He then knocks on the door of The Elite's dressing room, and tells The Young Bucks and Kazuchika Okada he'll be the fifth member of Team Elite in Blood & Guts.

Back at ringside, Mercedes Mone makes her way down to the ring.

Mone tells Calgary to say hello to their CEO, then says she's honored to be in the Saddledome to continue celebrating being both the TBS Champion and the NJPW STRONG Women's Champion. She points out the extra security at ringside courtesy of The Young Bucks, and says she will not be interrupted tonight. Mone declares herself as "the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be." She tells Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. that she will not be facing her at All in, then pours herself a shot and looks to toast to herself.

Baker's music hits, and she makes her way down to the ring. Security looks to stop her from entering the ring, but she takes them down and pushes past them. Mone slides out of the ring, and Baker stands tall.

Back from the break, we see Darby Allin attack Brandon Cutler. Allin then sends a message to The Elite, and says he'll see them next week because he's just getting started with them.

Back at ringside, Mariah May, Toni Storm, and Luther make their way out. Willow Nightingale follows.

Nightingale and May shake hands with one another. The bell rings and the two lock up. They go back and forth, taking turns locking one another in submission holds. Nightingale connects with a chop on May in the corner, then runs her over with a shoulder tackle. May trips Nightingale, then lands a dropkick on her and hits a chop. May delivers a hurricanrana to Nightingale that sends her crashing into the ropes, then tangles her up in the ropes and delivers a dropkick to her spine. She goes for a pin, but Nightingale kicks out.

Back from the break, May delivers a missile dropkick to Nightingale off the top rope and follows it up with a Hip Attack. She then drives Nightingale into the mat, but Nightingale lands a splash on her in the corner and follows it up with a spinebuster. She looks to lock in a Sharpshooter on May, but May fights her way out and delivers a German suplex to Nightingale.

May lands an uppercut on Nightingale in the corner, then fires off forearms on her in the opposite corner. She charges at her, but Nightingale gets her boot up. May connects with a double chop on Nightingale, then pulls her down with a hurricanrana and goes for a pin. Nightingale kicks out and pins May, but May kicks out. May then rocks Nightingale with a headbutt.

A hooded figure looks to interfere as the referee is distracted by Storm, but Nightingale fights them off. Kris Statlander then appears out of nowhere and lands a kick on Nightingale, and the hooded figure reveals themself to be Stokely Hathaway. This opens the door for May to land a running knee on Nightingale. Nightingale kicks out, and May looks to land May Day on her. Nightingale escapes and rolls up May, but May kicks out. Nightingale then lands a lariat on May and follows it up with a cannonball. She sets up for the Doctor Bomb, but May counters into a roll up for the win.

Winner (and Winner of the 2024 Women's Owen Hart Cup Tournament): Mariah May

After May becomes the winner of the 2024 Women's Owen Hart Cup Tournament, her and Storm look to celebrate her win on the top of the ramp. May grabs the Owen Hart Cup Tournament Championship, but instead of holding it up, she hits Storm with it out of nowhere and uses it to beat her down. Storm begins to bleed as May attacks Luther with the title and sends him crashing off the stage through a table. May then hits Storm repeatedly in the head with her shoe and jams it into her head. Officials show up to separate the two women, but May clocks Aubrey Edwards. She rubs Storm's blood on her face, then stands tall over her as the show goes off the air.
