WWE Raw Results 5/27 - Women's World Title Steel Cage Match, Braun Strowman Vs. JD McDonagh & More

Welcome to Wrestling Inc.'s results for "WWE Raw" on May 27, 2024, coming to you live from the Enmarket Arena in Savannah, Georgia!

Liv Morgan dethroned Becky Lynch as Women's World Champion in controversial fashion this past Saturday at WWE King & Queen Of The Ring when Dominik Mysterio became involved. The Judgment Day member looked to hand Lynch a chair in order to help her defeat Morgan, but after Lynch opted not to use the chair, Morgan got hold of it and used it to defeat Lynch by delivering a DDT to her on top of it and following it up with Oblivion. Enraged later in the night, Lynch declared backstage that she would immediately be employing her rematch clause. Tonight, such will be coming to fruition and the two will be colliding for the title, but it won't just be any ordinary match as "Raw" General Manager Adam Pearce announced earlier today that it would be in a Steel Cage.

Braun Strowman hasn't competed in televised action in a WWE ring since he joined forces with Ricochet to defeat Alpha Academy members Chad Gable and Otis on the May 1, 2023 episode of "Raw", but tonight, that will be changing as he will be going head-to-head with JD McDonagh. The two came face-to-face last week on "Raw" when McDonagh and his Judgment Day stablemate Finn Balor challenged reigning WWE World Tag Team Champions Awesome Truth for their titles, and Strowman appeared to neutralize an interfering Carlito.

We are live! The show kicks off with a video recapping the events of King & Queen Of The Ring.

Michael Cole and Pat McAfee then greet audiences at home as Ludwig Kaiser waits inside the ring.

We Hear From GUNTHER

Kaiser introduces the new King Of The Ring GUNTHER, and he makes his way down to the ring as fans chant for Randy Orton.

GUNTHER says he defeated Orton on Saturday to become the rightful King Of The Ring. He says in the process, he also earned the right to challenge for the World Heavyweight Championship at WWE SummerSlam. He addresses Damian Priest, and applauds him for stepping up in Judgment Day to take on the responsibility in Rhea Ripley's absence. He says he stepped up himself to become the longest reigning Intercontinental Championship, and much like he did with that title, he raised the lacking King Of The Ring Tournament to new heights never seen before. He says Priest took a shortcut to become World Heavyweight Champion by cashing in his Men's Money In The Bank briefcase.

Judgment Day's music hits, and Priest, Finn Balor, and JD McDonagh then make their way down to the ring. Priest says GUNTHER is King Of The Ring and he has the crown to prove it. He says GUNTHER proved nothing because he didn't beat Randy Orton clean, and says if he wants to take credit for something, he should take credit for costing Orton a shot at the Undisputed WWE Championship. He says he cashed in his briefcase like many before him, then asks GUNTHER if he knows how business around WWE works and offers to teach him about it

GUNTHER says he focuses on facts, and says the fact is that he's King Of The Ring. He says he will challenge Priest at SummerSlam should he still be the titleholder, then says he's waiting for someone to teach him something in the ring. He says while he can't teach business, he can teach professional wrestling. GUNTHER says Priest can either give him a speech on business now while he's King Of The Ring or after he becomes World Heavyweight Champion. Priest says he respects GUNTHER's Intercontinental Championship reign, but questions what GUNTHER can teach that he doesn't already know.

Drew McIntyre's music hits, and he makes his way down to the ring. He stares down Priest and GUNTHER, then grabs a microphone and responds to fans chanting for CM Punk by saying the highlight of his return has been him. He introduces himself to Priest and GUNTHER as the Number One Contender for the World Heavyweight Champion and the new World Heavyweight Champion. GUNTHER exits the ring before Priest tells McIntyre he's not overlooking him. He says he just wants him to be aware of what's going to happen to him at WWE Clash At The Castle. He says Judgment Day has been messing up time and time again in Ripley's absence, then offers to help him. He says there have been several talents from the United Kingdom who never won world championships, and he was the first to do so. He says Clash At The Castle is in his home country of Scotland, and gives a geography lesson of the UK. He says the people of Scotland are the most passionate people in the world, then tells Priest he's walking into a war zone. He says the fans there will break Priest mentally, and he'll break him physically.

Priest asks McIntyre if his game plan is to really get under his skin, and says being booed doesn't bother him. He says he's made a living of proving people wrong, then asks McIntyre if his wife will be at Clash At The Castle. McIntyre warns Priest about using his wife's name, and Priest says he could care less if she'd be there. He says he wanted to see if he could get under McIntyre's skin, and says he clearly did.

Braun Strowman's music hits, and McIntyre leaves the ring. He stares down Priest, before Priest leaves the ring and McDonagh gets inside.
