WWE SmackDown Results 8/4 - Jey Uso Vs. Solo Sikoa, The Grayson Waller Effect Returns

Welcome to Wrestling Inc.'s results for "WWE SmackDown" on August 4, 2023, coming to you live from Wright State University's Nutter Center in Dayton, Ohio!

Before he collides with Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship and the title of "Tribal Chief" tomorrow night at WWE SummerSlam, Jey Uso will be going one-on-one with Solo Sikoa. "The Enforcer" attacked Jey following his match with Grayson Waller last week, which ultimately ended with him and Reigns delivering a Samoan Spike-Spear combination twice to Jey.

United States Champion Austin Theory will be returning to televised action tonight as he collides with Cameron Grimes. Theory last competed on the July 21 episode of "SmackDown", during which he came up short to number one contender Santos Escobar. Grimes himself had a recent encounter with Escobar after coming up short against him in a Fatal Four-Way match in the Semi-Finals of the United States Championship Invitationals along with LA Knight and Sheamus.

Speaking of the latter two men, they will be squaring off in singles competition. Knight and Sheamus both pleaded their case to Adam Pearce as to why they should participate in the Slim Jim SummerSlam Battle Royal tomorrow night, and in addition to agreeing to doing so, the WWE official created tonight's match to provide the pair with an opportunity to gain some momentum.

The aforementioned Waller will be bringing back "The Grayson Waller Effect" tonight with special guests Bayley and Women's Money In The Bank briefcase holder IYO SKY. Additionally, WWE Women's Champion Asuka, Bianca Belair, and Charlotte Flair are all set to make appearances heading into their Triple Threat title match in Detroit.

We are live! Michael Cole and Wade Barrett greet audiences at home as LA Knight makes his way down to the ring. Knight says SummerSlam weekend is the biggest party of the summer, and he's been thinking about all the competitors in the Slim Jim SummerSlam Battle Royal. He says he sees a group of stooges and everyone has a chance of winning, then takes a few shots at Sheamus.

Sheamus' music then hits and he heads down alongside Butch and Ridge Holland.

The pair then spill to the outside as Santos Escobar, The Miz, Grayson Waller, Karrion Kross and Scarlett, and Michin and AJ Styles march down to the ring to watch the action. Meanwhile on the ring apron, Sheamus delivers White Noise to Knight.

Back from the break, Paul Heyman is waiting in the ring.

Jey Uso Confronts Paul Heyman

Heyman introduces himself, then asks how it came to this. He says this is not what Roman Reigns wanted to happen, and says if there's anyone to blame for Jimmy Uso currently being on the shelf, it's Jey Uso. He says whatever happens to Jey tomorrow night at SummerSlam tomorrow night will be on Reigns, and he will have no remorse or regret. He says when Reigns enters the ring at the Premium Live Event, he is entering Tribal Combat and throws it to a video explaining that there are no rules in the match except that there will only be one man who will emerge victorious.

Heyman then says that Reigns is the reigning, defending Undisputed WWE Universal Champion and the WWE Universe's Tribal Chief. He says he has been such for the last three years, and tells Jey that he will never assume the role. He looks to give a spoiler for tomorrow, but before he can, The Usos' music hits and Jey appears.

Jey says Tribal Combat is happening tomorrow night, and says he'll light Reigns up with chairs and table, then says he'll even plant him through one. He says he's bringing all of his passion, the spirit of his ancestors, and his family tomorrow night to beat Reigns and become both the new Tribal Chief and Undisputed WWE Universal Champion.

Solo Sikoa's music hits and he marches down to the ring. Jey tells Sikoa to chill, and Heyman says Jey screwed up. Jey says Sikoa is still his brother at the end of the day, and he'll always forgive him. He says all Sikoa does is take orders, and tells him he's been in his shoes. Heyman asks Jey if he really thinks Sikoa believes what he's saying, all the while Sikoa looks over at Jey, Heyman asks for a word with Sikoa, and Sikoa tells him to get out. Jey sees his opening and takes it, superkicking Sikoa.

Bayley and IYO SKY then make their way down to the ring, and Waller asks SKY if she's intending to cash in her Money In The Bank briefcase. SKY looks to speak, but Bayley cuts her off and says they won't be telling anyone what they're thinking or their strategy. Bayley says SKY is focused on her upcoming match with Zelina Vega, but she gets cut off by the sounds of Shotzi creepily laughing and saying her name.

Bayley looks to leave, and Waller calls her scared. Bayley says Shotzi is scared of her and not the other way around, but before she can continue, Shotzi's music cuts her off and an individual appears in Shotzi's tank.

Bayley orders SKY to confront Shotzi, but the individual in the tank remains seated. Shotzi then appears behind Bayley, and Bayley begs for forgiveness.
