AEW Collision Live Coverage 1/20: Thunder Rosa's Singles Match, Jon Moxley, And More

Over the last few months, House of Black tried to recruit FTR to join them, which has resulted in a personal feud. Daniel Garcia has joined the former tag team champions to even the score against the House of Black. Tonight, Daniel Garcia will go one-on-one with Buddy Matthews. Will Julia Hart get involved to ensure that the House always wins?
Thunder Rosa made her triumphant return to the ring last month. She has been in a tag match and an eight-woman match. Tonight, she will have her first singles match since 2022. Her opponent is the red hot Queen Aminata. She has been on a tear since her own return from injury, splitting her time between AEW and ROH. She competed on ROH TV and "Rampage" this week.
Speaking of ROH, Shane Taylor will be wrestling on "Collision". Taylor has held both the ROH Television Championship and one-third of the ROH Six-Man Tag Team Championships. He will be facing Jon Moxley for the first time ever tonight.
Adam Copeland will continue his open challenge on his quest to become TNT Champion once again. In the last two weeks, he's faced Griff Garrison and Lee Moriarty. Who thinks they're up to the challenge tonight?
AEW Triple Crown Champion Eddie Kingston teams up with his long-time friend and tag team partner, Oritz to face rivals Bryan Danielson and Claudio Castagnoli.
St. Louis's own Matt Sydal will take on the Undisputed Kingdom's Roderick Strong. On "Dynamite", Strong challenged Orange Cassidy for the AEW International Championship for March 3 at "Revolution".

Jon Moxley vs. Shane Taylor with Lee Moriarty
We are live with Kevin Kelly, Tony Schiavone, and Nigel McGuinness. Jon Moxley makes his way through the crowd while highlights of his match against Shingo Takagi from last Saturday's NJPW "Battle in the Valley".
Jon Moxley vs. Shane Taylor with Lee Moriarty
As soon as the bell rings, Shane Taylor goes right for Moxley. Taylor's boxing background is on display. After exchanging blows, Moxley gets backed into the corner, where he dropped down. Referee Stefon Smith had to hold Taylor off while he checked on Moxley.
The two immediately return to action. They exchanged chops and fists around the ring. Taylor got the former AEW World Champion to the outside and punched him in the jaw. Moxley threw Taylor in the stairs. Lee Moriarty hit Mox on the outside. Once in the ring, Taylor hit a side slam on Moxley. Taylor suplexed his opponent and pulled him into the corner to set up for a splash. Moxley rolled out of the way just in time. They exchanged forearms and Moxley hit a cutter.
Moxley followed with a running lariat. Once in the corner, he rained down punches. He followed with a fire suplex and a king kong lariat. Taylor bounced back with a left-handed lariat. They exchanged headbutts. After the last headbutt, Taylor kneed him in the shoulder. Moxley got Taylor in a triangle hold. After nearly going to sleep, Taylor began to stand up and paritally lift him up. Taylor was beating on Moxley, which angered him. Mox hit him with a flying knee. They began exhchanging forearms and Taylor got in body shots. Moxley put Taylor in a rear-naked choke. Taylor passed out, giving Moxley the win. Moriarty was not pleased.
Following the match, Moxley grabbed a microphone. "Everyone hear this. I am pissed off. I am pissed off beyond belief. I'm hungry, hungry beyond belief." He said he wasn't taken any crap and issued a challenge for a "teammate or colleague" to "keep the hell up."
Dante Martin Answers Adam Copeland's Cope Open
For the third week in a row, Adam Copeland held his "Cope Open". Dante Martin made his "Collision" debut to answer the challenge. The two shook hands following the bell ringing.
Copeland immediately went for Martin and put him in a side headlock. The dup leapfrogged each other and Martin took Copeland down with multiple arm drags. Martin and Copeland stayed fairly even early on. Martin went head first into the turnbuckle and dropped to the outside.
After the break, Martin got in a lot of offense. He did a hurriacanrana on the outside, followed by a tope suicida.
Copeland wins and points out only young guys are answering his challenge.
In a backstage interview, Lexy Nair talked to Bryan Danielson and Claudio Castagnoli. Danielson is no longer wearing his eye patch. Nair asked about Eddie Kingston and he started to get worked up. Castagnoli is tired of talking about Kingston.
After the commercial, Nair spoke with Top Flight when they were interrupted by Private Party. Top Flight challenged Private Party to run it back.
Thuder Rosa vs. Queen Aminata
Kevin Kelly points out that this is Thunder Rosa's first match since August 2022. Queen Aminata has been on a run as of late.
The two are evenly matched and have an answer for everything. Aminata hit Rosa with a backbreaker and continued to focus on her back. Rosa's back is the reason she was out of action for so long. Rosa did a running drop kick through the ropes.
During picture-in-picture, Aminata took control of the match. After the break, they exchanged forearms. Aminata hit a snapmare and a kicked her in the ear. Rosa crawled to the corner, which set Aminata up for a hip attack. Rosa put her opponent in the corner and hit her with forearms and a knee.
Rosa did a running drop kick causing Aminata to get caught between the ropes. They again exchanged forearms before Aminata hit a headbutt. Aminata dragged Rosa to the corner, but Rosa rolled out. Rosa hit her with another dropkick. Rosa hit the Tijuana Bomb for the win.
Bullet Club Gold came out to celebrate their ROH Six-Man Championship win when The Acclaimed and Daddy Ass came out. Anthony Bowens suggested they form a super group. Bowens said that fans want to see Daddy Ass with singles gold. Bowens said Bang Bang Gang have to answer to the fans. The fans gave a resounding yes. The groups formed into the Bang Bang Scissor Gang.
Daniel Garcia vs. Buddy Matthews
Both men were flanked by their respective groups. Daddy Magic is on commentary. FTR stood on one side of the ring with Malakai Black and Brody King opposite of them. Garcia stood in dancing position before the break. Eventually the four men not in the match retreated.
Garcia hit a piledriver off the apron. HOB and FTR stood on each side of the wrestlers. They made it in the ring, just beating the 10 count. Once in the ring, they struggled to get to their feet. Garcia knocked Matthews to his knee. They exchanged blows before Murphy fell into the corner. Garcia pulled Matthews to the ring post and slammed his knee repeatedly against it before pulling on Matthew's leg. Garcia put him in a sharp shooter. Matthews pulled Garcia down, while in the sharp shooter, and slammed his head into the mat.
Matthews got out of the hold and went on the attack. He hit Garcia with a jack knife. Garcia struggled to get up and Matthews hit him with knee to the faced. Matthews won with a roll up. House of Black and FTR got into a melee and the locker room came running down to break it up.
After the match, FTR suggested that they settle their feud in a steel cage match next Saturday.
Matt Sydal and Roderick Strong
Strong is accompanied by Matt Taven and Mike Bennett. Kevin Kelly points out that Sydal and Strong were former roommates in Tampa, Florida. Knowing each other so well has its benefits and drawbacks. Each one had an answer for whatever the other tried. With Strong on the outside, Sydal shot himself over the top rope and landed on his opponent.
Sydal took control of the match after the break. Strong thought he had the upper hand, but Sydal's flexibility helped him regain control. Sydal jumped from the turnbuckle, but missed Strong. Sydal tried to roll up Strong, but to no avail. Everything he's tried to do to put Sydal away hasn't worked.
During the match, commentary announces that Tony Khan has made the steel cage match official.
Strong hit Sydal with a running knee before hitting the End of Heartache for the win.
Main Event: Eddie Kingston and Ortiz vs. Blackpool Combat Club
In the main event, Danielson and Castagnoli came to the ring first. As soon as Kingston and Ortiz got to the ring, Ortiz stepped to Danielson, but it was Kingston who started off the match. Kingston kept telling Danielson to come on, but Danielson pandered to the fans instead. Kingston did the same. Danielson keeps stalling to get into Kingston's head. Kingston again returned to the top rope.
Danielson put him in a side lockup and dropped him down. He kicked Kingston in the back and did jumping jacks. Danielson kept Kington at arm's length and returned to the top turnbuckle.
Castagnoli and Ortiz finally got their turn in the ring. After the break, Ortiz got put in the Big Swing. Castagnoli did a rude gesture to Kingston before tagging in his partner. Danielson rained down kicks on Ortiz. Ortiz got to his feet and they exchanged forearms.
During the match, Schiavone announced breaking news from Tony Khan. As announced on Twitter, the rankings will be returning this month.
Kingston and Castagnoli make their way into the match and exchange chops and kicks. Castagnoli was forced to the corner where he chopped Kingston. Kingston responded with machine gun chops.
Kingston suplexed his opponent and went for the cover. Castagnoli hit Kingston with a lariat and followed with a choke slam. Danielson is tagged in and does a flying head butt. Kingston kicks out. Castagnoli pulled Ortiz off the corner so BCC could team up on Kingston. Kingston fought back and got rid of Castagnoli. Kingston hit Danielson with lariat.
Ortiz double teamed Danielson. Castagnoli with a dropkick. Ortiz dove on Danielson on the outside and Kingston did the same to Castagnoli. Ortiz gets stuck in the middle of the ring. Kingston tries to save him, but Castagnoli stops him.
Danielson held Ortiz's wrists while kicking him in the head repeatedly. Kingston can't get to his partner. Danielson hits a Busasiku Knee for the win.
Following the match, Danielson spat in Kingston's face. BCC talk trash into the camera as the show ends.
