WWE NXT Deadline 2023 Results 12/9: Two Iron Survivor Challenge Matches

The second annual "NXT" Deadline premium live event takes place at the Total Mortgage Arena in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The main card will feature six matches, including two Iron Survivor Challenge bouts. 

The women's Iron Survivor Challenge match will see Tiffany Stratton, Blair Davenport, Lash Legend, Fallon Henley, and Kelani Jordan battle it out for a shot at the "NXT" Women's Championship, while Bron Breakker, Josh Briggs, Dijak, Tyler Bate, and Trick Williams collide in the men's Iron Survivor Challenge bout to determine the next challenger for the "NXT" Championship.

"NXT" Deadline 2023 card

* Tiffany Stratton vs. Blair Davenport vs. Lash Legend vs. Fallon Henley vs. Kelani Jordan in an Iron Survivor Challenge match (the winner will receive a shot at the "NXT" Women's Championship)

* Bron Breakker vs. Josh Briggs vs. Dijak vs. Tyler Bate vs. Trick Williams in an Iron Survivor Challenge match (the winner will receive a shot at the "NXT" Championship)

* Ilja Dragunov (c) vs. Baron Corbin for the "NXT" Championship

* Dominik Mysterio (c) vs. Dragon Lee for the "NXT" North American Championship

* Roxanne Perez vs. Kiana James in a Steel Cage match

* Carmelo Hayes vs. Lexis King

* Pre-show: Axiom vs. Nathan Frazer

- Megan Morant, Sam Roberts, and Matt Camp discussed CM Punk potentially appearing on the "NXT" Deadline premium live event tonight. The trio then previewed this evening's card.

- Reigning "NXT" Champion Ilja Dragunov and Baron Corbin were shown arriving at the arena. Bron Breakker cut a brief promo backstage ahead of the men's Iron Survivor Challenge match. Moran, Roberts, and Camp discussed the men's Iron Survivor Challenge bout. Dijak was then interviewed backstage.

- A video package looked at the rivalry between Roxanne Perez and Kiana James. Merant, Roberts, and Camp talked about tonight's Perez-James Steel Cage match. The trio then looked at the ongoing saga involving Carmelo Hayes, Trick Williams, Lexis King, and "NXT" Anonymous.

- Fallon Henley and Josh Briggs were interviewed backstage ahead of their respective Iron Survivor Challenge matches this evening. Morant, Roberts, and Camp previewed the women's Iron Survivor Challenge match. They then looked at tonight's "NXT" Championship match between Dragunov and Corbin.

Nathan Frazer vs. Axiom

Axiom and Frazer exchanged moves in the opening stages of the match. The pace of the bout picked up. Axiom sent Frazer down and locked him in a submission. Frazer immediately countered with a cover. Axiom then attempted a pin moments later. Frazer briefly took control. Axiom responded and went for another pin. 

Frazer sent Axiom's face into the bottom turnbuckle. Frazer attempted a pin after delivering a snap suplex. Frazer escaped a submission hold by grabbing the top rope. Frazer locked in his own submission on Axiom. Axiom got his shoulder up after being sent into the canvas. Axiom delivered a dropkick. Axiom attempted another cover after sending Frazer down.

Axiom placed Frazer on the top rope and connected with a forearm from the turnbuckles. Axiom then delivered a moonsault to the floor. Back inside the ring, Frazer delivered a combination of moves and attempted a cover. 

Frazer landed a superkick after failing to connect with a high-risk move. Axiom caught Frazer with a kick moments later. Axiom got his shoulder up after eating another superkick. Frazer headed to the top turnbuckle. Axiom joined him and delivered a Spanish Fly. Axiom then picked up the win after landing the Golden Ratio.

Winner: Axiom via pinfall

- Frazer and Axiom hugged after the match.

- Morant, Roberts, and Camp previewed Dominik Mysterio defending the "NXT" North American Championship against Dragon Lee. That match will open this evening's Deadline event.

- Shawn Michaels headed to the ring and hyped up the audience. CM Punk's music then played. Punk interacted with Michaels. Punk then took a selfie with "The Heartbreak Kid." Punk teased possibly signing with "NXT." Punk's music played as the segment abruptly ended. Punk and Michaels hugged.

"Dirty" Dominik Mysterio vs. Dragon Lee for the "NXT" North American Championship 

Rey Mysterio joined the commentary team. Lee sent Mysterio out of the ring in the opening moments of the match. Lee then leaped to the floor. Lee continued to dominate as the action returned to the ring. Mysterio escaped a submission by getting his foot on the bottom rope. Mysterio eventually fought back.

Mysterio took control. The champion then taunted the audience and his father at ringside. Mysterio locked Lee in a headlock in the center of the ring. Moments later, Mysterio went for the Three Amigos and attempted a cover. Lee responded and double-stomped Mysterio to the floor while he was hanging on the turnbuckles. Both men made it back into the ring to break the referee's count.

Lee sent Mysterio down and connected with a kick in the corner of the ring. Lee delivered a dropkick to Mysterio in the corner. Lee placed Mysterio on the top turnbuckle. Mysterio got his hands on the rope after Lee landed another double stomp. Mysterio attempted a cover after landing a dropkick. Lee kicked out of Mysterio's powerbomb moments later.

Mysterio flung Lee into the middle rope. Lee avoided a 619 and landed a powerbomb. Lee captured the title after dropping Mysterio into the mat.

Winner and NEW "NXT" North American Champion: Dragon Lee via pinfall

Tiffany Stratton vs. Blair Davenport vs. Lash Legend vs. Fallon Henley vs. Kelani Jordan in an Iron Survivor Challenge match (the winner will receive a shot at the "NXT" Women's Championship)

Fallon Henley and Blair Davenport began the match as the first two participants. Henley and Davenport immediately traded covers. Henley and Davenport continued to go back and forth with pinfall attempts. Davenport sent Henley down with a big kick. Henley got her shoulder up after eating a second kick. Davenport took control. Henley eventually fought back.

Tiffany Stratton entered as the third participant. Davenport took Henley down on the floor. Stratton and Davenport worked together. Stratton and Davenport applied a double submission in the center of the ring. Stratton and Davenport continued to punish Henley. Stratton then sent Davenport down. The former "NXT" Women's Champion took control. Davenport stole a pinfall point after Stratton delivered an Alabama Slam to Henley. Henley headed into the penalty box for 60 seconds.

Kelani Jordan entered as the fourth participant. Henley exited the penalty box all fired up and immediately went after Stratton. Henley picked up a point after pinning Stratton. Stratton headed into the penalty box for 60 seconds. Stratton immediately targeted Henley after exiting the penalty box. 

Lash Legend entered as the final participant and sent Stratton and Henley down from the top turnbuckle. Legend then delivered a superplex to Davenport and Jordan. Moments later, Legend pinned Stratton and Henley at the same time to score two points. Stratton and Henley headed to the penalty box for 60 seconds.

Jordan sent Legend to the floor and performed a moonsault. Davenport cleared the commentary table. Meta-Four appeared and prevented the penalty box door from being opened. Henley climbed out of the top of the penalty box. Stratton sent Henley through the commentary table. Stratton jumped on the remaining participants and Meta-Four.

Legend and Jordan went back and forth. Stratton attempted a pin after taking out Legend and Jordan. Davenport secured another point after pinning Jordan. Jordan headed to the penalty box for 60 seconds. All five participants fought in the ring after Jordan was released from the penalty box. Stratton scored her first point by pinning Legend. Legend headed to the penalty box for 60 seconds. 

Davenport picked up another point to take the lead in the final 15 seconds of the match. Legend chased after Davenport after being released from the penalty box. Davenport managed to escape to win the match. 

Winner: Blair Davenport [Davenport 3, Legend 2, Stratton 1, Henley 1, Jordan 0]

- Davenport spoke on the microphone about challenging Lyra Valkyria at New Year's Evil. Valkyria appeared on the stage. Cora Jade returned and attacked Valkyria.

- Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams were shown interacting in the locker room.

Carmelo Hayes vs. Lexis King

Hayes pushed King in the chest as the match got underway. The former "NXT" Champion took King down and trapped him in a headlock. King struck Hayes with his right hand after escaping the hold. Hayes immediately went back after King. 

Hayes and King fought on the floor. King missed a chop to the chest and connected with the ring post. Hayes stomped King's hand on the top of the steel steps. Hayes continued to dominate as the action returned to the ring. King stopped Hayes in his tracks and sent him to the floor.

King took control and delivered a flurry of moves. King focused on Hayes' back. Hayes got his shoulder up after King connected with a blow to the back. King wanted a handshake from Hayes. Both wrestlers fell to the floor after battling it out on the turnbuckles.

Hayes and King traded blows in the center of the ring. Hayes began to build some momentum. King responded and attempted a cover after landing a Jackhammer. Hayes and King went back and forth. Hayes landed the Nothing But Net from the top to win.

Winner: Carmelo Hayes via pinfall

- King spoke on the microphone after the match. King said he wasn't the person who attacked Trick Williams. He then thanked Hayes for the PLE spotlight.

- Cora Jade was interviewed backstage. Jade explained that she was going to take the "NXT" women's division to a whole new level.

- Williams and Hayes were shown making up in the locker room. 

Bron Breakker vs. Josh Briggs vs. Dijak vs. Tyler Bate vs. Trick Williams in an Iron Survivor Challenge match (the winner will receive a shot at the "NXT" Championship)

Josh Briggs and Dijak began the match as the first participants. Both wrestlers went back and forth in the opening stages of the bout. Briggs took Dijak down with a headscissors. Briggs attempted a pin after sending Dijak down again with a pounce. Dijak eventually responded and lifted Briggs for a suplex. Dijak went for a cover after delivering a big chokeslam. Dijak got his shoulder up moments later after Briggs connected with a big boot.

Dijak managed to pin Briggs immediately before Bate entered as the third participant. Briggs headed to the penalty box for 60 seconds. Bate landed a flurry of moves on Dijak. After exiting the penalty box, Briggs pinned Dijak after landing a clothesline. Dijak headed to the penalty box for 60 seconds. Bate sent Dijak back into the penalty box for 60 seconds after scoring a fall.

Trick Williams entered as the fourth participant. Williams wiped out Bate and Briggs. Williams leaped off Briggs' back and took out Dijak. Bate spun Williams around on his shoulders. Bate sent Dijak into the steel steps on the floor. Bate scored a fall after landing a Tyler Driver '97. Williams headed to the penalty box for 60 seconds.

Bron Breakker entered as the final participant. The former "NXT" Champion immediately scored three falls after hitting spears on Briggs, Bate, and Dijak. Briggs, Bate, and Dijak headed to the penalty box for 60 seconds. Williams leaped to the floor after Briggs, Bate, and Dijak were released from the penalty box. Dijak scored a fall after connecting with a big boot on Williams. Williams headed to the penalty box for 60 seconds.

Bate scored a fall after landing a Tyler Driver '97 on Dijak from Breakker's Frankensteiner. Dijak headed to the penalty box for 60 seconds. Dijak and Briggs scored a fall simultaneously. Williams and Breakker headed to the penalty box for 60 seconds. Briggs and Dijak landed a big boot on each other at the same time.

Breakker speared Williams through the barricade after being released from the penalty box. Dijak then chokeslammed Breakker through the commentary table. Williams scored a fall on Briggs. Briggs headed to the penalty box for 60 seconds. Eddy Thorpe appeared and attacked Dijak, which allowed Williams to score a fall. Dijak headed to the penalty box for 60 seconds. Williams scored another fall on Bate. Bate headed to the penalty box for 60 seconds. Williams then scored a fall on Breakker in the final few seconds to win the match. 

Winner: Trick Williams [Williams 4, Dijak 3, Breakker 3, Bate 3, Briggs 2]

- Rey Mysterio was shown backstage presenting the "NXT" North American Championship to Dragon Lee.

- Meta-Four brawled with Briggs, Brooks Jensen, and Fallon Henley backstage.

- Kiana James was shown heading to Deadline after leaving the new WWE headquarters.

Roxanne Perez vs. Kiana James in a Steel Cage match

James immediately went after Perez. The former "NXT" Women's Champion responded and sent James into the cage. James launched Perez into the steel after catching her in the middle of the ring. James then pushed Perez's face into the cage with her foot. James continued to punish Perez.

James ran straight into the steel structure after Perez moved out of the way. Perez took the fight to James and sent her down with a dropkick. Perez sent James into the steel. James kicked out of a pinfall attempt. Perez headed to the top of the cage. James followed Perez to the top. Perez sent James back down. James went for a cover after delivering a powerbomb from the top turnbuckle.

James elevated Perez and bounced her body off the steel. Perez attempted a pin after landing Pop Rox. James attempted to escape through the cage door. James grabbed a chair while she was dangling outside of the ring. Perez managed to grab the chair. Izzi Dame then appeared and smashed the steel cage door into Perez's head. James followed up and secured the victory by driving Perez into the chair using her knees.

Winner: Kiana James via pinfall

Ilja Dragunov (c) vs. Baron Corbin for the "NXT" Championship

Corbin immediately took control and trapped Dragunov in a headlock. Dragunov attempted to respond, but Corbin took the champion back down. Corbin sent Dragunov out of the ring. Dragunov returned and sent the challenger out of the ring. Both men brawled on the outside. Dragunov landed a German suplex on the floor. Corbin responded by dropping Dragunov onto the commentary table.

Corbin attempted a cover back inside the ring after dropping Dragunov onto the top rope. Corbin proceeded to punish the champion. Dragunov fought back and attempted to land a German suplex. Corbin replied with a DDT. Corbin continued to dominate. Dragunov managed to stop Corbin in his tracks with a knee strike. 

Dragunov and Corbin traded strikes in the middle of the ring. Dragunov delivered a flurry of chops in the corner. Dragunov followed up with a big kick. The champion attempted a cover after landing a German suplex. Dragunov and Corbin battled on the top turnbuckle. Corbin attempted a cover after sending Dragunov down from the top with a chokeslam.

Corbin locked Dragunov in a sleeper hold in the center of the ring. After escaping, Dragunov drove Corbin into the corner. Dragunov kicked out of a Deep Six moments later. Dragunov got his shoulder up again after Corbin landed a combination of moves. Dragunov then delivered a powerbomb after struggling to lift Corbin. He followed up with a Coast to Coast.

Dragunov sent Corbin down with a DDT. The champion followed up with three H-Bombs. Dragunov then retained the gold after connecting with the Torpedo Moscow.

Winner and still "NXT" Champion: Ilja Dragunov via pinfall

- The men's Iron Survivor Challenge winner, Trick Williams, appeared after the match and signaled that he was ready to take Dragunov's title.
