AEW Collision Results 7/15 - FTR Vs. Bullet Club Gold, Owen Hart Cup Finals
Welcome to Wrestling Inc's live coverage of the July 15 episode of "AEW Collison." This week's episode comes from the Calgary Stampede Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
Tonight's episode will feature the Owen Hart Cup Finals for both the men's and women's tournaments — CM Punk will face Ricky Starks and Ruby Soho will take on Willow Nightingale.
Besides the Owen Hart Cup Tournament finals, FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood) will defend their AEW World Tag Team Championships against Bullet Club Gold (Jay White and Juice Robinson). Since the debut of "Collision" on June 17, FTR and Bullet Club Gold have found themselves in the ring against each other in some form or other.
The show opens with FTR and Bullet Club Gold talking about their upcoming World Tag Team Title match. Afterward, Punk, Starks, Nightingale, and Soho each take a few seconds to talk about their upcoming matches. The first match is the 2 out of 3 falls match for the AEW Tag Team Championship on the line.
2 out 3 Falls Tag Team Championship Match: FTR (c) Vs. Bullet Club Gold
The bell rings and the two teams stare each other down. Jay White and Dax Harwood start off the match and they lock up, but the early stages are all about mind games. Harwood runs around the ring and shakes hands with fans. He is back in the ring and tries for the inside cradle. White manages to deliver a hip toss to Harwood and Robinson tags himself in. Harwood then tags in his partner. The two lock up and take it to the ground. Wheeler tries to pin him with the backslide, but Robinson escapes and heads out of the ring.
After a commercial break, Harwood and White are in the ring. Harwood puts White in an ab stretch and hits a big elbow drop later on. He tags in Wheeler, who goes for the lateral press, followed by a pin attempt. White tags in Robinson and hits Wheeler with a big right hand. Robinson has Wheeler in a side headlock.
Both of them try to pin each other and both get a two-count. Wheeler hits the body scissors and gets a two-count. Robinson leaves the ring and Wheeler tags in Harwood, who gets into a chopping contest with the Bullet Club Gold member. Back in the ring, Harwood grabs Robinson by the hair and throws him in the corner, followed by a thumb to the chest and a lateral press.
Robinson hits a clothesline and throws Harwood into the turnbuckle before tagging in White. The Bullet Club Gold member hits a DDT to Harwood and Wheeler. White hits a Flat Liner followed by a bridge and goes for the pin, but Wheeler breaks it up. White gets knocked down after Wheeler hits a clothesline. White tries to get the pin with a few roll-ups, and he eventually gets the first fall with Robinson's help.
First Fall: Bullet Club Gold
The Tag Team Championship match continues
Back from the break, Juice Robinson and Dax Harwood are in the ring, but it doesn't take long until they tag in their respective tag partners. Cash Wheeler clotheslines Jay White and gets a two-count. White then hits a German suplex and then tags in Robinson.
Robinson hooks the leg and gets a two-count. He then delivers a front face lock on Wheeler and tags in White, who hits a neck breaker and gets a two-count. White then drives his boots into Wheeler's midsection. Robinson gets tagged in and DDTs Wheeler outside of the ring by the announce table.
Wheeler gets in the ring before the referee counts to 10. Robinson tags in White, who proceeds to kick Wheeler's neck and head. Wheeler looks exhausted and he tries to punch White but falls. The crowd chants "FTR" and Robinson gets back in the ring for some more back-and-forth action. Eventually, Robinson tags in his partner, who puts his thumbs in Wheeler's eyes. Wheeler fights back and swings wildly. He finally gets a tag to Harwood after hitting White with a hurricanrana. Harwood hits a Springboard and gets a two-count before delivering German suplexes to Robinson. The crowd chants, "This is awesome."
White gets tagged in and the referee tells Robinson to get out of the ring after he cannonballs Harwood. White is looking for the Blade Runner, but instead, they chop each other. Harwood and Wheeler keep hitting their signature moves, but White keeps kicking out. Robinson tags in and FTR hits the Shatter Machine to even the score.
Second Fall: FTR
FTR and Bullet Club Gold compete for the deciding fall
Back from the break and it's chaos. Cash Wheeler and Juice Robinson are outside of the ring, while the two legal men, Jay White and Dax Harwood, are on the apron. Harwood fails to powerbomb White and both men go toppling over the railing.
Moments later, Harwood and Wheeler double-suplex White and then hit one on Robinson. Later on, Robinson helps White into the ring after the referee almost calls for a 10-count. All four are the ring and more chaos unfolds.
Back from the break and Harwood is on the ground and White looks like he wants to do a superkick, but decides not to. Instead, he does the sharpshooter, but Harwood grabs the rope and breaks the hold. Both men are down and five minutes remain for the match. Robinson pulls out Wheeler and throws him into the steel steps. White goes for a pin, but only gets a two-count. Harwood and Wheeler then put their opponents in sharpshooters, but the hold breaks due to exhaustion.
Robinson goes for a DDT, but Wheeler turns it around and puts him in the sharpshooter. Robinson taps out and the AEW World Tag Team Champions retain their titles.
Winners: FTR
Post-match, FTR extend their hands out, but Bullet Club Gold isn't interested. White spits at the feet of FTR before he and Robinson leave to a chorus of boos.
Owen Hart Foundation Women's Cup Tournament Finals: Willow Nightingale Vs. Ruby Soho
The women's final of the Owen Hart Tournament is next. Ruby Soho gets the first hit, but Willow Nightingale hits several suplexes. Soho moves and Nightingale hits the ring corner. Soho says to the camera that she's bringing the trophy home to the Outcasts.
Back from the break. Nightingale hits an enzuigiri to Soho and then a clothesline. Nightingale delivers a spinebuster to Soho and a single-leg crab, but the Outcasts member breaks it after she gets to the ropes. When the referee isn't looking, Soho grabs her trademark spray paint. Soho delivers thumbs to the eye before hitting the Future Kick, but Nightingale kicks out.
Soho keeps trying to distract the ref and she has the spray can, but Nightingale gets the upper hand and eventually hits a powerbomb for the victory.
Winner: Willow Nightingale
Post-match, AEW CEO Tony Khan comes out and cheers for the new tournament champion. He leaves and Nightingale celebrates. Afterward, a highlight package shows clips of last week's match between Ricky Starks and Powerhouse Hobbs. Afterward, QT Marshall apologizes to Hobbs following their disagreement on last week's episode of "AEW Collision."
Kings of the Black Throne in action
Kings of the Black Throne (Brody King and Malakai Black) come to the ring to face two enhancement talents. Black hits an inside cradle before King tags himself in to destroy one of the talents. The other wrestler saves his partner and breaks the pin, but that doesn't stop the House of Black members' onslaught.
Black is in the ring with one of the enhancement talents and Andrade El Idolo comes out. Black hits the Black Mass and gets the three count. Post-match, Idolo wants his mask back and Black mocks him. Several referees rush out and stand between them while Julia Hart looks on.
Afterward, Ricky Starks' music plays and he makes his way to the ring for the Owen Hart Tournament final. CM Punk comes out next and receives a mixed reaction from the crowd. The bell rings and the match begins.
Owen Hart Foundation Men's Cup Tournament Finals: CM Punk Vs. Ricky Starks
Ricky Starks shoulder tackles CM Punk and mocks him with the GTS hand motion. Back from the break and it's revealed that Jushin Thunder Liger is at the event. Punk is outside of the ring and Starks waves him to come back. He's very cocky tonight. However, Punk delivers chops to Starks followed by a power slam. Punk then pays homage to Bret "The Hitman" Hart by doing some of the legend's moves, but the Canadian crowd isn't behind him.
Back from the commercials and Punk gets the upper hand on Starks. He delivers knees to Starks in the ring corner. Starks finally counters and gets a two-count. Starks then makes his way up to the top rope, but he misses his move and Punk hits a clothesline followed by a two-count.
Punk and Starks both hit each other and fall down. Punk gets back to his knees first, but Starks meets him shortly after and they exchange forearms. After getting back onto their feet, Punk hits a piledriver, but he's slow to cover and only gets a two-count.
Punk tries for the GTS, but Starks counters and hits Punk with a spear. Starks brings Punk back into the ring, but his opponent regains some momentum and locks him in a submission hold. Punk hits the hurricanna, Starks counters with a roll-up, and it goes back and forth for a pin. Eventually, Starks gets the win by a roll-up and holding the ropes.
