WWE Shares Rare Video Of Asuka Putting On Her War Paint

WWE fans are getting a unique look into the preparation Asuka puts into her wrestling war paint. To celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, WWE released a video of Asuka meticulously going through the process of getting ring ready with her appearance.

Historically, Asuka has always worn war paint as part of her in-ring character dating back to her time wrestling in Japan as Princess Kana. Paired with Asuka's famed use of strong-style wrestling, the war paint helped solidify her character as a a dominant force, going on to win championships with promotions like DDT Pro-Wrestling and JWP Joshi Puroresu.

Since she debuted in WWE back in 2015, however, Asuka's war paint often only consisted of a simple parallel line across her face. But after a brief hiatus earlier this year, Asuka brought with her a much more detailed look at the Royal Rumble that harkened back to the intricate war paint she donned during her time in Japan. 

Asuka began posting cryptic tweets that indicated she was bringing back the more creepy-looking war paint from the early days of her career, including multiple messages that bid farewell. That farewell turned out to be the more tamed look that came with her time as the "Empress of Tomorrow." Now, Asuka is going old school with her look. The Japanese star is likely looking to bring back her early career success as well with a title shot this Saturday night against "Raw" Women's Champion Bianca Belair at Night of Champions.
