Backstage Update On WWE Status Of Bray Wyatt And Uncle Howdy
When Pro Wrestling Insider reported earlier Monday that former WWE Champion Bray Wyatt is no longer listed on WWE's internal roster, it led many to believe the divisive wrestler no longer works for the company. A new report from Fightful Select, however, appears to have assuaged these fears. According to Fightful, the internal roster PWI reported omitted Wyatt due to his current inability to take part in storylines due to health issues that have sidelined the third-generation star. Fightful also says Wyatt's masked sidekick, Uncle Howdy, is also still with WWE, but has no current creative plans due to Wyatt's health issues and has thus been sidelined for the time being.
Nothing is known about Wyatt's condition, but he has not been seen on WWE television since the end of February. Before his hiatus, Wyatt had been involved in a cryptic feud with Bobby Lashley, whose inclusion in the Andre The Giant Battle Royal (which Lashley won) came after WrestleMania plans with Wyatt were scuttled due to Wyatt's health issues. There had been rumors of a faction forming around Wyatt, which would've included past and current stars, but seemingly nothing has come from those reports.
Wyatt returned to WWE in October 2022 at Extreme Rules, after being released in 2021. Instead of wrestling, Wyatt spent much of his return cutting cryptic promos, wrestling a single broadcasted match against L.A. Knight at January's Royal Rumble, and showing surreal vignettes, like the late February video that is Wyatt's last appearance in WWE to date.
