Thunder Rosa Explains Why WWE's Damian Priest Is Her Wrestler Of The Week

Bad Bunny received widespread praise this week following his win at WWE Backlash, but there's one man Thunder Rosa thinks should also get his flowers: his opponent, Damian Priest.

On Sirius XM's "Busted Open" show on Friday, the AEW star and pro wrestling pundit said her "wrestler of the week" was Priest, who she said steered the match to the success it achieved last Saturday. Priest ultimately lost the match to Bad Bunny, who was making his debut as a singles wrestler, by getting pinned at the end of the street fight. Despite the outcome, Rosa said Priest "was the star" of the match.

"He did an absolutely amazing job," Rosa said. "He was able to really compliment Bad Bunny in such a – in such a good way and he played his role exactly how he should've played his role, so my hat is off to him."

Rosa also praised Priest for staying in character in front of his hometown fans in Puerto Rico and for realizing the importance of being the antagonist to Bunny.

"He could have easily not been a heel since he was in Puerto Rico," Rosa said of Priest. "Even during the press conference, he could have spoken in Spanish, but he decided to tell everyone to shove it. That's huge! He stayed in character the entire time."

In conclusion, Rosa acknowledged that the 25-minute San Juan Street Fight could have been potentially dangerous for Bunny, considering the rapper was making his singles debut. As such, Rosa believes Priest deserves all the more props for ensuring the safety of both himself and Bunny.

Rosa and other wrestlers alike are not the only ones high on Priest. A recent report from PWInsider suggested that WWE executives view the Judgment Day star as "one of the top-level players in the company going forward" and were particularly impressed with his work in the lead-up to Backlash.
