Top Of WWE SmackDown Internal Depth Chart Revealed, Grayson Waller Listed As Top Heel

Look out, haters — Grayson Waller is apparently set up to be a top heel on "WWE SmackDown" right out of the gate. PWInsider.com published a report Friday morning in their Elite section about the internal depth chart listed backstage at "SmackDown," which includes a list of the show's top male babyfaces and heels. Despite the fact that he was called up from "WWE NXT" to the main roster as part of the supplemental WWE Draft in a move that was announced on "Raw Talk," Waller appears on the heel list, behind (in ascending order) LA Knight, Karrion Kross, United States Champion Austin Theory, Solo Sikoa, and of course, Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns. The list of babyfaces for the blue brand is topped by Edge and also includes (in descending order) Bobby Lashley, AJ Styles, Sheamus, Rey Mysterio, and Santos Escobar.

Waller has yet to hold a championship in his young WWE career, but he's been involved with the top of the card on "NXT" programming on a regular basis and is coming off high-profile feuds with "NXT" Champion Carmelo Hayes and main event star (and former "NXT" Triple Crown Champion) Johnny Gargano. His inclusion on PWI's list of top "SmackDown" stars is unquestionably its biggest surprise, though Escobar could also be put in that category. Whether the internal listing indicates that WWE has big plans for the likes of Waller and Escobar, or simply speaks to "SmackDown's" overall lack of depth following the WWE Draft, remains to be seen.
