WWE Officials Reportedly Visit Australia To Discuss Potential Major PLE
WWE is about to embark on holding consecutive premium live events outside of the continental United States with shows in Saudi Arabia and the U.K. coming on the heels of Backlash in Puerto Rico. But could the company be racking up more frequent flyer miles in looking to travel internationally again in the near future?
As Fightful originally reported, WWE officials have been in touch with representatives from Australia to gauge interest in holding a premium live event there. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE officials recently traveled to Perth to discuss an event that would be co-promoted by the local tourism group and presented as a "major" PLE. The last time a big televised event took place in Australia was 2018 with WWE's Super Show-Down. However, that show was then moved to Saudi Arabia in subsequent years.
Back in 2021, WWE and The Foxtel Group extended their partnership with a multi-year programming agreement to maintain access to WWE's weekly shows for fans in Australia. WWE also has an influx of Australian talent right now with the likes of Bronson Reed, Rhea Ripley, and Grayson Waller all being part of the main roster. Reed recently took to social media to push the idea of WWE heading to Australia for a PLE in the future, naming the Adelaide Oval as an ideal location for one to take place.

While there is no concrete commitment yet that WWE will be heading to Australia, it is certainly a possibility being explored. WWE might want to follow the lead of Impact Wrestling on this front, as the wrestling promotion is set to run shows in Australia this summer — the first time Impact has made its way to the land down under.
