The Elite's AEW Contract Negotiations Reportedly Have Had No Movement Lately

It has previously been reported that Kenny Omega is still working under his previous AEW deal – which was due to expire in February – after it was extended due to time missed because of injury. Meanwhile, Matt and Nick Jackson of The Young Bucks revealed in 2021 that they had agreed new deals with the promotion until 2024. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there has been no recent movement regarding contract negotiations between The Elite and AEW. Omega and The Young Bucks are also executives with Tony Khan's company.

The Elite members agreed multi-year contracts with AEW after the promotion was formed in January 2019, with Omega reportedly turning down a deal from WWE. The trio had regularly been performing on the independent circuit and for New Japan Pro-Wrestling. Omega's final match for NJPW before signing with AEW saw him lose the IWGP Heavyweight Championship to Hiroshi Tanahashi at Wrestle Kingdom 13; The Young Bucks also performed at that same event challenging for the IWGP Tag Team Championship.

Since joining AEW, Omega has captured the AEW World Championship and the AEW World Trios Championship twice with Matt and Nick Jackson. The Young Bucks are also two-time AEW World Tag Team Champions, while Omega held the AEW tag team gold with "Hangman" Adam Page in 2020. All three wrestlers are still heavily featured on AEW programming. This past Wednesday night on "AEW Dynamite," Omega was defeated by Jon Moxley in a steel cage match after his longtime associate Don Callis turned on him and struck him with a screwdriver.
