Mark Henry Says WWE Backlash Had Better In-Ring Action Than WrestleMania 39
This past Saturday night, WWE presented Backlash from the Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot in San Juan, Puerto Rico. That premium live event was co-headlined by Cody Rhodes taking on Brock Lesnar and Puerto Rican Bad Bunny going up against The Judgment Day's Damian Priest in San Juan Street Fight. WWE Hall of Famer and All Elite Wrestling's Mark Henry told SiriusXM's "Busted Open Radio" that he felt the event surpassed WWE's biggest show of the year when it came to in-ring action.
"The wrestling at Backlash was better than the wrestling at WrestleMania [39], minus the main event," Henry said.
On the same radio show, multi-time tag team champion Bully Ray expressed that Backlash was just as exciting, if not more exciting, as WrestleMania 39. That two-night event was headlined by Roman Reigns defeating Rhodes to retain the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, California. Ray pointed out that emotional investment is what made the audience in Puerto Rico as excited as they were throughout the Backlash event. The former TNA World Heavyweight Champion said the fans in San Juan were there to have a good time and that they were into every WWE Superstar who performed on Saturday night. Ray felt it was a "perfect storm" of when a crowd and talent come together because they fed off each other.
