Former WWE Champion Dave Bautista Wraps Production On My Spy: The Eternal City
Former WWE Champion Dave Bautista retired from professional wrestling at WrestleMania 35, losing a blistering contest to Triple H, and has since embarked on one of the most celebrated cinematic runs in the history of former professional wrestlers. Bautista took to Instagram to celebrate a wrap on his upcoming motion picture, "My Spy: The Eternal Kingdom." Bautista is set to reprise his role as J.J. from the original "My Spy" film.
"It doesn't get more special than this," Bautista wrote, captioning a photo of him standing alongside director Peter Segal and co-star Chloe Coleman. "We are truly family. I love you guys."
The news comes just after a new trailer dropped for another of Bautista's upcoming projects, as he will reprise his role as Glossu Rabban Harkonnen in "Dune 2," the sequel to the hit Oscar-nominated 2021 blockbuster, set for release on November 3.
Bautista was recently praised by "Glass Onion" director Rian Johnson as a great actor, and was dubbed by Collider as "wrestling's first character actor." Bautista was supposed to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2020 but withdrew due to restrictions placed on fan attendance due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and is currently still on WWE's radar for future induction. Bautista was backstage for the final "WWE SmackDown" of 2022, though the former World Heavyweight Champion never appeared on the program, opting instead to hang out with his friend and fellow wrestler Titus O'Neil, and reportedly caught up with friend and mentor Paul "Triple H" Levesque during the visit.
